Eva has been a human rights activist for Amnesty International for the last ten years. Bart has been a music journalist for the best part of 30 years. Both of us have travelled the world, and we were missing the personal touch in the big chain hotels we usually got stuck in. So we started to list all the things we wanted and missed. This became the base for our own Rock Lobster City Lodge. We offer a personal service, and strive to create a home from home. No matter how long you stay, or what the purpose of your visit to Antwerp is, we want to make your stay as comfortable (and efficient) as we possibly can.

Rock Lobster City Lodge is a music themed b&b with five rooms, every one of them decorated in it's own musical theme -blues, jazz, electronic, glamrock and icelandic. A couple of times a month, we also host exclusieve intimate living room concerts in the lounge area (40 people maximum) by well known national and international stars. Every room has it's own soundtrack, the walls are decorated with photographs by some of the worlds best rock photographers, and as the co-owner has been a music journalist for the past 30 years, there's plenty of autographed memorabilia by superstars like adele, springsteen, bowie, U2, Foo Fighters, Muse, etc.. But don't worry: our City Lodge does NOT look like a scruffy backstage area. We like people to relax in the lounge, play vinyl records (we have quite a collection), enjoy a local beer or try the Antwerp Strange Donkey, one of the best gins in the world. And if prefer a quit night.. we've invested in fantastic Beta-beds, so you'll feel totally re-energised in the morning. Ready for a sumptuous breakfast with bread from the only Michelin-starred bakery in the city.

Zurenborg is one of the safest areas in Antwerp. It's a very vibrant place, and Dageraadplaats - a square with plenty of excellent bars and restaurants- is the place where locals young and old come to meet. They'll have a beer, go out to have dinner or just sit themselves on a terrace with a book or a newspaper. You'll like the architecture of this area. Most buildings date from the late 1800's, ours originates from 1898, and you can take a wonderfulp stroll through atmospheric streets. Parking in this neighborhood is almost free (just 3,8 euro for a whole day) and with a little bit of luck you can park right in front of the property. If you're traveling with kids, the Antwerp Zoo -just a 10 minute walk- is a great option to spend a (rainy) day. And it just takes a ten minute tram ride to reach the shopping streets, musea, concert venues and yet more café's and restaurants.
