It is the only place in Australia where you are guaranteed a sighting of a whale during the whale watch season, which runs from mid July to early November. Whale Watching is popular in Hervey Bay as it is one of the only places in the world where the Humpback Whales seem to befriend their whale watchers, swimming and playing around the vessels and putting on some amazing acrobatic shows for their audience.
