First of all, all the staff were very friendly, kind and supportive! Anddd very clean and tidy, organized, peaceful. Giving that Japanese capsule hotel vibes, but like backpackers with having private space and interaction with ppl at the same. It was comfortable for me to stay:) Just 15min walk from the central area, I think it’s a very nice location, not too city yet walkable.

Taupo is an absolute mecca for all things outdoors – including hiking the famous Tongariro crossing, trout fishing, skydiving, jet boating, white water rafting, mountain biking and sailing on the Great Lake with the hostel's yacht 'Fearless'. I really enjoyed staying at Finlay's. The pods are awesome and provide great privacy, you feel like you have your own mini room. The facilities were very clean, tidy and plenty. The location is great as well, in the middle of the town walking distance to the lake, bus stop, food, etc. I stayed here twice and would definitely stay again. Also Biggie is such a cutie!
