The owner is super friendly and helpful. He is available on Whatsapp and is very responsive. He picked me up from the bus station and also drove me there when I was leaving Bukit Lawang. He gave lots of good, accurate and useful information regarding transportation and prices and restaurant recommendations. The room was clean. It wasn't pristine and perfect but it was nice and I was very comfortable. Remember, this is in the jungle basically, so there will be some insects from time to time and even a few geckos, but they are really cute! They have mosquito nets, so you feel safe from the creepy crawlies. But there weren't many of them anyway. And finally, do the tour with them! The prices are not extraordinarily cheap, but they are in line with everywhere else. I asked around, and they were all the same price, so honestly, I would be careful if you found a tour that is "too cheap." The guide, Putra, spoke English well, and he helped us find 4 organgutans and other animals in the off-season. The food was plentiful and delicious (thank you, Bruno, the cook).

Nias Frank Accomodation ligger i Lagudri, en kort bit från Sorake strand, och har en egen strand, rökfria rum samt gratis WiFi i alla utrymmen. Var och ett av rummen har balkong. Frank and his family are great hosts, they make you feel very comfortable and welcome. Unreal location right in front of the break walk put on the reef and you are in. We stayed two weeks wish we stayed longer

Salty Dog Hostel ligger i Telukdalam, en kort bit från Baloho strand, och erbjuder boende med en trädgård, gratis privat parkering, en gemensam lounge och en terrass. Amazing vibes and super chill environment. The owner and all of the staff are incredible and super fun people to hang with. You go to this place as a stranger but even after a couple days you become like family. I wish I could have stayed longer. 30 min drive to Saroke but no problem because it was easy to rent scooters from salty dog. Best place ever!!

Very Good location, close to airport, comfortable beds, private space in "cubicles". Queit, clean in the eooms, hot water in the shower. Staff kindly helped with booking taxi and other information.

Very new homestay at the Sejahtera buscompany compound, but not completely finished yet. (November/2025) Nice clean rooms (but not 36 m2, I think around 22 m2) with comfortable beds. The Bathrooms are OK with hot/cold shower, there is NO mirror in the bathroom. Towels provided are clean and good. Good working airconditioning. Cups and/or glasses are not provided. 2 small bottles of water per day. Watercooker and coffee and tea... Staff is very nice and helpfull

Medan Dazhong Backpacker's Hostel erbjuder boende i Medan, 2,9 km från Maimun Palace och 3,2 km från Great Mosque. Boendet är rökfritt och ligger 1,9 km från Medan tågstation. Very friendly staff and owner. Also very helpfull when you need or want something. The best thing we could do was book the jungle trek tour. Our guide Edi Caterpilar was doing great teaching us all the stuff he knows about the jungle. We saw many oeran-oetangs and other monkeys. Also other animals like a weird river-turtle. Rafting in the end is also worth doing, very nice ending of the trip!

The owner is a very nice man, helpful in any way he can help with. Providing tips for travellers and arranging tour with the people he knows across the region. He gives honnest prices and don't try to scam you. Of course you need to dare talk to people to have a good experience.
