The room excited my expectations, it was big, clean and the bed was comfortable. I found it nicer than the pictures. The common areas were very nice and the kitchen was great (probably the best kitchen I've had at a hostel). As a solo traveller I found it easy to meet people at the hostel. There's a big supermarket just across the street and an even bigger one just a few minutes away. It is not on the main street, so it's very calm and quiet at night, but it is close enough so you don't feel uncomfortable walking back in the dark, however would always recommend walking with someone if you can. It is close to restaurants, stores, busstation and the beach.

Perfectly clean apartment and very calm woman friendly atmophere !!! I was very happy to choose this hostel at Puerto Viejo. Bike rent for 6 dollars. Very good location. Restaurants and Sodas around, but very quit street.

Our cabina was very comfortable and fully furnished with all equipements useful for our stay. The hosts are very nice and helpful. Their restaurant is also great, the food was delicious and the atmosphere was cool. This place is quiet and peaceful, and you can see animals in the garden ! Not to be missed if you stay a few days in Cahuita !

Very nice place, with lots of green around The common area has nice relaxing places They give you new towels every day and make the beds, very clean rooms The tours were very nice from the hostel, a very good guide. I think the price from the hostel was similar to the other tour operators Good kitchen with a variety of spices.

Rihanny at the front desk is a total star. Calm, pleasant, warm and helpful she made our stay exceptional. The hostel was a joy, wonderful grounds with a resident sloth (Raoul), a number of agouti and most wonderful...the red straberry dart frogs. There are flowers at every corner and the trees and lush vegetation add ambiance and privacy. They have a good system for food storage in the shared kitchen and a nice little pool area.

El Hostel del Patio has a garden, terrace, a restaurant and bar in Tortuguero. The accommodation features a shared kitchen, a tour desk and luggage storage for guests.

This was a fun visit. I loved feeling like I was on an island. There weren't any cars. It was easy to walk to the park and plenty of restaurants to choose from. We ate at the Patio too. The food was amazing. We had a great stay. We did take a canoe tour through the National Forest area and saw lots of animals, birds, etc. The turtle sanctuary was interesting. I would love to see the turtle run--usually in June. I liked where the Patio is located right on the dock where we were taken and picked up by water taxi.

The service was amazing. Helping with transition between different rooms and advising on crossing the border to Panama. On Tuesdays good live music.

Simply one the best Hostel I ever been to. The location is far from Puerto Viejo, of course, but the beach is close (ten minutes by walk), and just a bit further there are three supermarkets and a pharmacy (and you'll find yourself in the main road, pretty easy to do anything). Then, you're staying in a very nice jungle spot. The facilities are great, good kitchen, big rooms (with lockers and plugins). All very clean (you can see how the volunteers are making an effort, they're really great: all the staff is very friendly and helpful). Good common areas with a fantastic atmosphere, very social and easygoing (I would dare say you can actually feel at home: your home in the jungle). Highly recommended :)

This lodge is in a very nice location in the small town of San Francisco. The restaurant is next to the water. A nice place to hang around. They serve a nice breakfast in the morning. The owner and his wife are very nice and helpful. You have to get a boat back to the main town. It's part of its charm. We really enjoyed our stay.
