The property is in a very quiet area, with a well-maintained yard and a swimming pool—perfect for hot days. Be sure to try host's seafood platter, but come with an empty stomach :) Shaluka and his wife are incredibly hospitable, and our daughter had a fantastic time playing with their sons. Shaluka’s place is ideal for those planning to visit Yala National Park, as it is only 20 minutes from the park entrance. We would love to stay here again!

There is nothing to dislike about this place. The rooms are new, clean, cozy and they have AC. The bathrooms are large and sparly clean. The family that owns the place are very friendly and helpful. The food they prepare is delicious. The lobby offers a generous space to relax and work. You can even enjoy the sight of crocodiles swimming or sunbathing in the river from the terrace above. I can’t recommend this place enough! We have enjoyed it

Located within less than 1 km of Tissa Wewa and 25 km of Bundala Bird Sanctuary in Tissamaharama, Tissa Rainbow Guest & Yala provides accommodation with seating area. It is set 35 km from Situlpawwa and offers a 24-hour front desk. There is a sun terrace and guests can make use of free WiFi and free private parking. I can't say enough great things about this homestay! They arranged our transfer from Ella and arranged a morning and afternoon safari for us. We were greeted with a delicious cold coconut water, in the coconut. We chose the breakfast and dinner option which makes so much sense because the town is a bit of a walk and after a safari all day (4:30 am to 6:30 pm) it is great to have dinner at the homestay. Both dinners we had were excellent, I think the best food we've had in Sri Lanka! They also pack a breakfast to go on your safari day because of leaving so early. When you wake up they have coffee and bananas for you before leaving. Our room was a great size, ac and hot water worked well. The owners are very kind, friendly and even drove us to the bus stop, stayed with us and made sure we got on the right bus. I highly recommend Tissa Rainbow for your stay while exploring Yala National Park, you won't regret it!

Featuring a garden and views of garden, Mailagama Cinnamon Residence is a recently renovated guest house set in Kataragama, 21 km from Situlpawwa. There is a private entrance at the guest house for the convenience of those who stay. The guest house also offers free WiFi, free private parking and facilities for disabled guests. The people make the place even better. I would love to go back again and stay more nights. You can also buy cinnamon sticks, black pepper etc… direct from their farm… so it’s cheap.

The staff were so helpful. They organised an amazing safari for us. They also went above and beyond to help us arrange transport to and from the accomodation.

The air conditioner was cold, the water hot, the pool refreshing, the view spectacular, breakfast delicious and the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful.

All rooms have a balcony with views of the garden. We liked the location next to the lake and the huge amount of wildlife we could enjoy watching while sitting on the balcony or in the beautifully kept garden. The host family are extremely welcoming and we felt well looked after with suggestions on things to do and help arranging tuktuks etc. The home cooking was perhaps the best we have had in Sri Lanka and generous in proportion (1 dish will easily serve 2+) and well priced. We enjoyed a local specialty, buffalo curd with treacle see photos), amongst other dishes. The location is a little out of the city but we liked that it was quiet, peaceful and offered the lake view, the room itself is basic but what you need - think of it as glamping and the rustic nature part of the wildlife aesthetic.

From the moment we arrived we were made to feel so welcome. Nothing was too much trouble. We even had a packed breakfast as we had early safaris each day. Cannot praise enough. Make sure you visit the Crocs before you leave!!!
