We had both breakfast and dinner. Very tasty, regards to the cook! The room has plenty of space to move around. We appreciated the high ceilings (had the upper floor) and nice views with palm trees canopy from the balcony.

Backwaters was a lovely spot on the doorstep to the western gate of Wilpattu. They organised a game drive for us (where we saw lots), a river trip and boat ride to our next destination. The rooms and grounds are full of nice, environmentally friendly touches, and the meals are great. Since the centre of the park is a little ways from this gate, a full day game drive turned out to be better than a half day - and allowed usto see lots of elephants at the end of the day.

Towels and bed linen are offered in the homestay. For added privacy, the accommodation features a private entrance. I stayed at the Just Inn for one night. It was very clean and I felt comfortable. There was a double door to lock. The owner Asam is extremely friendly. He gave me a free lift to the bus station the next morning. I can highly recommend the accommodation!

We booked The Sanctuary half an hour before arriving and we were warmly greeted at the door by the owner Siraj. Siraj's passion for environmental protection is incredible. His knowledge of the ecology of the area is huge. Siraj and his team provided us with first class hospitality, beautiful food and a fully organized safari we will never forget (for a very competitive price). Extras like plentiful home grown bananas, a night tour of the grounds (seeing flying foxes and mouse deer) and free photos of what we saw on safari were the icing on the cake. It was a privilege to have stayed at The Sanctuary and we left enriched. I would not hesitate to return here in future.

Also about as close as you can get to the rickshaw run start line so was a super location for us. No hot water but we didn’t even miss it.

This accommodation is very special and we felt like we were in an oasis of calm. The pool was perfect, the house is in a beautiful garden among coconut palms. The mini house is very well equipped for European style (we very much appreciated the separate shower). We really haven't found a single mistake. Too bad we only stayed one night, it was probably the best accommodation we had in Sri Lanka for a month.
