There was air conditioning in the room which was so needed in the humid jungle! The husband and wife running the home stay have excellent English. They are so kind and helpful. We had an issue with the fan in the room and it was fixed within minutes! We had an incredible spread for breakfast and didn’t need to eat again until the evening.

Really hospitable atmosphere, the owner was very charismatic and helped us with our anuradhapura trip by arranging everything. Very cheap!

There is a private entrance at the guest house for the convenience of those who stay. The property is 2.6 km from Bogambara Stadium, and within less than 1 km of the city centre. The room was super clean, with large and very comfortable beds. The bathroom was excellent, with its own shower tray and glass screen – not the typical Sri Lankan style where the whole floor gets wet. This made it much more comfortable for us as Europeans. The staff were very friendly, and the breakfast was delicious. The only small point is that to reach the city center you need to take a tuk-tuk, but that was not a problem for us.

Very big room with balcony and almost 360 view just from the room! You can literally see both sunrise and sunset! And there is a rooftop with tables and chairs. And monkeys sometimes. Great shower! Hot water, good water pressure! Very big and comfortable bed! There are AC and fan! There is kitchen because the owner lives here as well. He is very kind and always seems happy. He would message me to let me know when the monkeys come to the house 😂 He also offered washing machine for me to use because I stayed them for 4 nights! Location is out of busy town center, but only 10 min by tuktuk within 300lkr. Or you can also walk 5 min down the street to catch the local bus for 30lkr. There is a good restaurant “the chef corner” just 2min walk and the food there is really good! Next to it there is a fruit store and a bakery. Very convenient. I also found an Ayurvedic doctor in the area and got a massage. If you are going to Sigiriya by car, you don’t need to go through town.

Amazing place - this may be the best place I stay in Sri Lanka. It is not in city center but is a short tuk tuk ride away. The room is lovely, the bed huge and comfortable (best night sleep!) and the grounds are lovely (great for catching up on travel / life admin in a great setting). The food they served was fantastic. All in all I really loved my stay here and it the value for the cost was phenomenal.

Our stay at Corner Cottage was great! The couple where so welcoming and warm. The food they cooked for us was so tasty! We did a cooking class with them aswell, which was so fun and interesting! They took such good care of us. The room is simple, yet spacious and clean, as is the bathroom. The bed was big, so very comfortable for my 2 meter long boyfriend ;) You also have a living area with sofas. If you go to Anuradhapura, I would really recommend staying at Corner Cottage!

This property offers access to a terrace and free private parking. The homestay features garden views, an outdoor fireplace and a 24-hour front desk. Dew ashi is a very authentic homestay which we totally loved. It is a bit out of town in a rural area, but this was not a problem as Chaaru the owner will transport you into town or sites (for a small fee) such as pidurangula or Sigirya rock if you need- he is readily contactable through WhatsApp. The room and bathroom are clean with mosquito nets on each bed. Tharu and Chaaru with their 2 young daughters made our experience extremely positive and memorable. They were warm and welcoming. We were there over the New Year celebrations which added extra cultural experiences including a traditional celebratory buffet breakfast. They provide filtered water to refill, and large delicious Sri Lankan breakfast. We also loved having a jug in our room to make tea and coffee. When we went on safari they made toasted sandwiches to take for lunch and soursop juice as a pre safari treat. Yum!! Chaaru arranged a brilliant elephant safari with his brother Patum in Hurulu eco park. This was recommended due to the recent heavy rain with elephants moving from Mineriya to this park. We were treated to many elephant sightings very close to our jeep. He seemed to know exactly where to find them. The pool was beautiful, clean with seats poolside. Tharu ran an amazing and informative cooking class and garden tour. We made using traditional techniques 6 different curries, coconut roti and coconut sambal and we feasted on this at the end. We could not recommend Dew Ashi more highly.

Staying here was such a lovely experience. Kumari and her family were incredibly warm and welcoming—we were greeted with fresh juice as soon as we arrived, which was such a thoughtful touch. The food was also amazing. The kottu she made was honestly the best I’ve had in Sri Lanka. The place is calm and surrounded by nature, yet very close to all the main attractions in Sigiriya. The room was very clean, and we had hot water throughout our stay. Don't think twice about booking this place!
