The main street was buzzing from locals' strolls (we were there in the off season), and had a lovely atmosphere. Even the walk to the Valley of the Temples (outside of town) took no longer than 40 minutes, on paved sidewalk (there is a bus service for those who prefer that). Our room was perfectly clean and well designed, equipped with everything we needed for a 3 days' stay. Orazio checked us in and made sure we had all the information and amenities we needed. We appreciated the attention to details, the cookies, candies, bottled water, toiletries. Martina, a lovely and hospitable lady served us the exceptional breakfast. We had never seen anything alike in Italy, this breakfast had literally everything you can wish for, we called it gourmet breakfast, absolutely abundant, delicious, and served with style! All in all, Amelies's is a wonderful accommodation, highly recommended, especially for couples!

By most reckoning, it should be just a place to dive into to escape the hassle of travel and get some shut eye for a few hours, yet it is the exact opposite. It's chic and has been exquisitely finished. The staff in our one night stay, one after another, outdid each other in welcoming and looking after us, I.e. Fabrizio, Antonio and Davido, I hope I spelt those names correctly. The view from my room was of a car park, but Mount Etna was smoking away behind it. I lay in bed and watched it for an hour. On the other side was the runway. I sat in a bench on the morning and watched planes take off and land.for another hour, it was very pleasant. The soundproofing was excellent, by the way.
