Beautiful near new property. Excellent value for money, comfortable, 2 minutes walk to the peaceful Talalla beach with its clear blue waters to swim in. We had dinner there both nights which were delicious. Our hosts were a friendly Sri Lankan family who treat their guests superbly. This place was one of the gems we stayed in on our trip around the island. We shall return.

The fantastic Madame Mani is the owner and manager of Gurugedare Heritage. She welcomes all guests with open arms and you feel welcome and home immediately. International or domestic breakfast is offered. Lunch and dinner are Sri Lankan dishes with local ingredients. In the vicinity there is Tallalla Beach approx. 1km. 7km away there is the fantastic Hiriketiya Beach a paradise for surfers. (15min by tuk-tuk) Thank you Madame Mani for a fantastic stay. This charming hotel, with only three rooms, offers a wonderfully relaxing and peaceful atmosphere. It is located right on the beach, perfect for long walks where you might even spot a turtle. The staff are incredibly kind and always willing to help, making the stay even more enjoyable. Breakfast is plentiful and delicious, served with a beautiful view of the ocean. The property is spotless and tastefully decorated. A special mention goes to Jeremy and Julie’s clothing line – a visit to their lovely boutique is an absolute must!

Secret House in Dickwella was a highlight. The house is fantastic. Super clean and so well looked after. The air conditioned room was spacious and the bathroom was modern and fully functional with a great hot water shower. Amila, the owner was just amazing. So committed to his guests and his mother and father were a delight. Breakfasts were fantastic as were the dinners. Dickwella is a working town so great to explore but the beach area is amazing and just a short walk from the guesthouse. Amila will help with anything and is a superb host. Really pleased we stayed here. Thank you so much. We will not forget.

Fantastic value for money - what's described by Lighthouse Beach Home as the "budget room" could be "deluxe" elsewhere. Rooms are well maintained and nicely equipped, even if small - still comfortable, and you can shower while looking at the lighthouse through the bathroom window. The family running the place is very friendly and speak good English. Next to the guesthouse they have a nice, quirky restaurant on the waterfront. You can park a tuk tuk or a bike in the garden - sun beds then get moved to the rooftop terrace, which has views to the ocean and the bay.

    The hospitality of the family who runs this homestay is incredible. We feel so much home and welcomed there, so that we come to this place year after year. We also enjoyed very much the delicious cooking of our host Anu. She makes a superb rice and curry and for breakfast you have a lot of choices. We recommend the srilankan breakfast. The beach is super near and so you can enjoy a very relaxed holiday there.
