My partner and I had the best stay at Star Canal Cottage. After receiving a great tuk tuk tour around Negombo from Leon at the start of our trip, we stayed at his guesthouse before our departure too due to his friendliness and consideration. Our room very clean, spacious and light, with a powerful hot shower in the bathroom. The location is great, close to the city centre with restaurants nearby, but down a quiet canal road to enjoy the peace. We read and listened to the birds on the terrace during the day, while drinking home made lime juice before an excellent dinner of home-made prawns from Leon. A wonderfully kind, funny, and diligent host (and now friend), we will recommend Star Canal Cottage to anyone wishing to visit Sri Lanka :)

The owners are super kind and caring. The husband took us to the fish market and a church and a market, and they also recommended restaurants that were super nice. Rooms are clean and the pool is amazing! They arranged cool beers whenever we wanted it. Would recommend to everyone!

This hotel is such a delight, everything is so beautifully designed. It is full of small details in the rooms and in the hallway that make it feel as a a small boutique hotel, from the elements in the batroom to the armchairs in the lovely patio in front of our room. We had a room wich was huge and spotless. The owners are a young couple passionate of their hotel, of architecture and make every effort to provide a very high end experience. They made a special very early breakfast for us before our flight. I would really recommend this hotel when staying in Negombo even if it is not directly on the beach because it provides such a lovely experience.

Upon our arrival in Sri Lanka, we planned to stay in this accommodation for just one night before moving on, but in the end, we stayed longer to get better rest after the trip. The room was comfortable and had everything we needed: hot water in the bathroom, a wardrobe, a fan, air conditioning, a balcony, and a fridge in the apartment. There is also a shared kitchen with all the necessary items and a microwave, as well as a beautiful shared terrace where we spent a lot of time.🌅 The best part of all was the family running the place. They were always kind and smiling, and breakfast was always waiting for us right at ten, as we had agreed: English breakfast, pancakes, fruit, a pot of tea, curry…🍽️🍉 And it’s important to mention that this amazing breakfast is included in the room price. The host even helped us break down larger bills so we could pay for the store delivery we had ordered. Truly worth recommending! We might even stay there again when heading back toward Negombo.☀️
