We enjoyed every bit of our stay in this family-led hotel! It is not far from the beach (5-7 minutes of walking). The room were very clean and there was a common kitchen where we could store some food in the fridge, make our tea or mix some smoothies. Besides this the owner always offered us some freshly mixed smoothies, tea of coffee and also homemade local food. There was also a washing machine available. The little family of this hotel was so kind and we felt so welcomed and supported. Thanks for this nice experience and holidays in Heriketiya!

Secret House was the perfect place to stay for our first night at Sri Lanka’s coast - and what a welcome it was! We had the very best time and the service was impeccable. Our host went above and beyond to help us get settled and find anything we needed (bike, tuk tuk, recommendations). Really one of my favourite places we stayed during our trip in Sri Lanka. House is beautiful, room was so lovely and clean and comfortable. House is off the main road and is so quiet you wouldn’t believe you’re in the center of Dikwella. Loved the property so much wish we had stayed for longer. Excellent value for money highly recommend :)

This is a very nice place. I would describe it as a bed & breakfast (not sure what it's labelled as on Booking). The owner lives in a separate house and guests stay in a new house with three or four rooms. Each room has a separate bathroom. It's all very roomy and the plave has a nice garden. It's also clean and the style is somewhat colonial with dark tree furniture. Wifi is OK but not great and that's the case wherever you go on Sri Lanka. I could do some work without problem and my daughter could look at Netflix. So, it's ok. The owner is very helpful and friendly and they have a washing service. The location is off Dikwella main street so it's quiet and it takes 5-10 minutes to walk to the beach across the main street and through some deserted plots. Since Surf Bay Villa is in the eastern end of Dikwella it's also close to Hiriketiya beach. Its possible to walk the distance but I recommend using a tuc tuc. This beach is nicer than the beach in Dikwella. Surf Bay Villa is definitely a clean, nice and friendly place to stay!

Bakamuna is a special find for me in this area for which I was very lucky to come across. I extended my stay because I got sooo comfortable here! The room and the house facilities are far beyond expectations and what you pay for. The host, Nigel is truly one of the most considerate people out there– he’s a natural at making you feel right at home. He’s really thought about everything a traveller/remote worker could need and placed it right here. While Hiriketiya beach area is quite commercial, this place didn’t feel transactional at all. The staff and neighbours were so caring towards me. I recommend having a scooter to get to the town quickly but its not a bad walk either. But if you’re a remote worker wanting a long term stay, book this right away.
