Spacious! Which is hard to find for dormitories. And exceptionally clean. Really appreciated the quiet ambience and comfortable lounge, with complimentary tea and drip coffee. Lots of manga and books to browse through, along with a thorough sightseeing and food map. Also a very cute variety of Ghibli decorations and memorabilia in the lounge area. Location is close to Takayama Eki but in the snow it was a bit hard to go to and from with a wheel suitcase. Any other weather and it is completely walkable.

The guesthouse is located up above the city center, close to everything. I believe there are 2 houses and I wasn’t in the main one but it was all clean, had 2 bathrooms and 2 toilets, all the utilities, and bonus there is a cute garden at the back where you’re allowed to smoke (this is uncommon for japanese houses). The host was really nice, spoke a good english and show me on a map everything that could be seen near the city center. I had a great time in Takayama, it’s a really beautiful place!

This place is super cute, the staff are very lovely and you can't beat the price. I arrived very early and I was able to use the shared space of their other property until check-in. The space is really comfy and I was able to work from there. The hotel is also located in a great area to walk around town.

    Lovely host. Was very welcoming and the rooms were very clean and felt traditional. They let us leave our bags there after we had checked out so we could explore Takayama more which was nice. Well located within a short walk from stores, the bus station and the nice areas with all the little shops.
