Very cozy room with a really friendly hostess. The hostess prepared a meal for me despite the restaurant being closed. In fact, all the restaurants in the viscinity were closed and it was raining heavily, so that was kind of a life-saver. I was in the area mostly to visit the Kamishikimi Kumanoimasu Shrine, and for that the location is as good as it gets. Buses go from Takamori station to the hotel every hour, but you could also walk (about 3.5 km). Shared bathroom and shower/bath, but I never noticed any of the other guest ( if there were any ). Everything was clean. The only issue was that only a tiny towel was provided. If you can, bring your own. Should be higher rated than it currently is, very nice place with a nice atmosphere.

Our host was incredibly welcoming and the other guests really respectful so we felt right at home. The location was ideal for visiting hiking spots nearby. There was the possibility to do laundry which we really appreciated and there is a good yakiniku restaurant nearby (our host even kindly drove us there and brought us back).

The owners are such a nice couple, very kind. We really enjoyed our days at hostel+cafe. The place is beautiful, very clean and confortable. The food was very tasty, Japanese traditional breakfast. We strongly recommend it.

I only stayed the one night at El Campo because I was just passing through. My stand alone cabin was spacious, with futon upstairs and kitchenette, bathroom, dining space downstairs. There was a small incident re damage to my rental car by another guest which required police involvement for insurance purposes. I was very thankful that the manager noticed what was happening and came and assisted. He very kindly spoke to the rental agency and the police on my behalf. Which I found very relieving because the language barrier can be really challenging especially in stressful situations. Thank you very much!

I had such a wonderful stay at this guesthouse in Aso. The host is incredibly kind and welcoming—it truly felt like coming home. The house itself is a beautiful traditional Japanese home, full of warmth and charm, and everything was spotless and comfortable. I instantly felt at peace here. If I had more time, I would have loved to stay longer. I will definitely come again and hope to stay at least a few weeks next time. This place has a special, calming energy. We were slightly sceptical about this place as it only had two reviews, but we are so glad we booked. This was a great guesthouse with traditional Japanese rooms in a gorgeous village. The host was incredibly helpful (even walking us to a local restaurant to make sure we got a space as everywhere was fully booked). We felt incredibly welcome, had comfy beds, a lovely room, and everything we needed.

The omusubi guesthouse is a perfect destination if you want to explore Kyushu! We enjoyed the shared spaces and sleeping on the tatami mats. Rie was really friendly and helpful, she made a booking for us at the local restaurant and helped when I got sick. The house has a relaxed atmosphere and you can play Mario on a vintage Nintendo.
