Our first stop in Sumatra was at Lilly's Guesthouse, where we were very warmly welcomed by her and her husband Ishako. From the first moment we felt welcome and completely at home. We booked a two-day jungle trek. Our adventure began on the second day after our arrival, together with our guide Iman and a French couple, Carolane and Romain. There was immediately a nice click, and so we trekked into the jungle together. Blood, sweat, but no tears - what an experience! Without Iman, the trek would definitely not have been the same. What a top guy! After two days of trekking and a night's sleep in the middle of the jungle, we arrived safely back at the guesthouse. How happy we were to finally shower again and sleep in a comfortable bed! As icing on the cake, we also enjoyed a wonderful massage - how good that felt! After that we wanted to travel on to Lake Toba, and coincidentally that was also Lilly's plan with her family. Transportation was completely arranged by them, and together we traveled to our next destination. Along the way, we had lunch together, took the same ferry and once again shared beautiful, enjoyable moments. In Tuktuk our paths parted, as we had each booked our own guesthouse, but we met up a few more times. Each time it was a warm reunion! What we really want to say: we felt like one of them. We booked our stay with Jhony and went on a 2 days jungle trekking tour with him and Lana. The room at his place is nice, nothing luxury but all you need is there. And the tour itself was just amazing! He's a very good guide, can tell a lot of storys and the food they brought for us on the tour was extraordinary!! Can highly recommend this!!

We had a fantastic time at Cheeky Monkeys. The staff were incredibly kind, and it was wonderful to hang out with them in the common area. They were also very helpful with everything we needed. Our jungle trekking experience with them was absolutely awesome! Huge thanks to all the guides at Cheeky Monkeys. We highly recommend staying here; the rooms are comfortable, the common areas are inviting, and the garden is simply astonishing.

We had an amazing stay at Batu Kapal Guest House! Bayu, Aji and the boys really made us feel at home. The location is truly beautiful, in the jungle with a nice river for swimming. The last day, there were even 3 orangutans in de trees just behind our room! The food was also great, we even got a small cooking class because we liked the BBQ chicken so much :) We will miss this place and hopefully we can come back one time!

Our stay here was amazing! The room is spacious, bed is comfortable, bathroom also nice and everything is clean. Also the room has a big balcony with incredible view. The staff was also great, we arranged everything we needed through them and it was not a problem. We also booked a one day jungle trek with them and it was excellent. Our guide Dani and his brother were good guides and also very nice people.

Amazing holiday in a beautiful place on the river bank in Bukit Lawang. The hospitable owner helped to bring the luggage to the room and organized an amazing two-day trek into the jungle to see orangutans. The room is clean with a wonderful veranda overlooking the river. This accommodation exceeds my wildest expectations completely. It offers a breathtaking view over the rice-fields, which truly is amazing. Every morning, I took the time to meditate in the attic of the meeting place. The cottage itself is truly beautiful and has a small bridge over a pond filled with stunning fish. It has almost a Japanese atmosphere. Gorgeous! In addition, the staff is always ready with a big smile and they are available all day to help. In the morning, a wonderful breakfast is prepared for me with great care, everything taken care of doen to the smallest detail. Moreover, I can work well here thanks to excellent WiFi connection. I also slept wonderfully here; the bed has a comfortable mattress and there is a great fan available. Within walking distance, you will find various shops along an excellent road, so everything is easily accessible. If I needed something, they quickly arrange it by scooter or they bring and pick me up without hesitation. I am absolutely 100% planning to come back here and would recommend this place to anyone.
