The location is a perfect base for jungle trekking but the best thing is the incredible staff and the amazing food. I’m genuinely sad to leave and it feels like I’m leaving my home. Everyone works so hard to make it a fabulous experience. We had an amazing stay at Batu Kapal Guest House! Bayu, Aji and the boys really made us feel at home. The location is truly beautiful, in the jungle with a nice river for swimming. The last day, there were even 3 orangutans in de trees just behind our room! The food was also great, we even got a small cooking class because we liked the BBQ chicken so much :) We will miss this place and hopefully we can come back one time!

Lovely spacious rooms with gorgeous balcony and view. Rooms were very clean with flushing toilets! Easy walk into town where there’s lots of restaurants and a supermarket. The owner and staff were lovely, friendly and very helpful. We felt very safe and welcome here. They cooked us lovely banana pancakes for breakfast and a lovely lunch.

This is a place you keep extending and extending. Ema and Jakub are so kind and welcoming and they do everything they can to help you. You can book the Jungle trekking with Jakub with the local guides from Bukit Lawang. We really love this place and definitely recommend to stay here!

Met at the top of the village by Dedek and Jonny to help us with our bags by motorbike to the homestay. These guys could not do enough for us and Made our stay in Bukit Lawang which in itself is a great place to visit. We did a one day trek with them, and thoroughly enjoyed the day seeing orangutans in the wild, and jungle taxiing back to the village. We did a cookery course with Jonnys Mum and a Village tour on the third day by bicycle which was a great way to learn more about the area. On top of that it’s a very comfortable room overlooking the river, we had the upstairs. Superb few days, really worth visiting and we will be recommending to friends and family.

Excellent stay in this beautiful and cosy lodge (only 2 cottages, so you feel very private). The most polite and friendly staff and extremely helpful and available at all times. Highly recommend if visiting with family or solo! We didn't order their food since we are vegetarians and had young kids with their dietary needs, but that was not an issue at all as they kindly let us use their kitchen for preparing our meals. The cottage itself was spacious and clean. Jungle trek and transport was also arranged promptly and the prices were very competitive. Thank you Bayu, JaJang, Henry, nDaka and the rest of the team for a memorable stay!

It was an amazing experience. The place is surrounded by astonishing nature, and not like in Bukit Lawang centre, where all the guest houses are located one by another, with limited privacy, here you can fully enjoy being really close to nature and having cosy, calm, private space. The rooms and public spaces are comfortably and aesthetically arranged. The owner and his team are extremely supportive and helpful, and can share plenty of inspiring stories and information about the treasures of the jungle :) and ecological behaviours which prevent harming the nature. Food is super tasty and available on the spot. I highly recommend also “jungle spa”, unforgettable experience! We have seen orangutan just few hundred meters for this place. And the river is by the property so you can take a swim any moment. You need to walk there a bit from Bukit Lawang centre but for me it was just another advantage of the place, the walk is easy (you can make it in sandals/flip-flops) and through the beautiful area.

What a beautiful setting! A little piece of luxury living in an exciting and peaceful jungle setting. Thank you to Agus, Sarah and their team of staff and especially Ellie the cook who gave us some of the tastiest food we have eaten on our travels around Indonesia. The trekking was amazing, well organised, fun and again the food the trekking guys made was delicious. Room was perfect, clean, peaceful with the little luxuries we needed after backpacking. Fun friendly team, we can't wait to come back. Nothing was too much trouble. Thank you xx
