I only stayed for one night to be close to Nokogiri Mt. for hiking, but Ken-ken was extremely helpful and generous while I was there. One of my favorite memories from my two week trip to Japan will be my stay in this little town of Hota, much thanks to Ken-ken's hospitality and guidance for places to visit and eat at while I stayed. He recommended the cutest izakaya when I told him I was looking for dinner and a few beers called Rest Inn Wassup! The owner and cook there were so nice, and we had a good time visiting even though we were mostly speaking through Google Translate. Please don't be afraid to visit this little town if you want to see some authentic Japanese small-town life and great hiking. I was able to get around fairly easily, but be aware the public transportation is limited and it can get dark in the neighborhood at night. Rest assured, though, if you stay with Ken-ken, he will make your stay comfortable and worthwhile!

The 2-star guest house has garden views and is 1.7 km from Awa Shrine. The property is non-smoking and is located 7.5 km from Shiroyama Park. Lovely accommodation run by a japanese couple. It is not a hotel but more like a B&B. You can have a spacy room and great breakfast just made for you. They don't speak that much english but everything can be solved because of their great friendliness :) There are a few restaurant in walking distance but I think it's good to have a car that you can go to beach shops restaurants etc. They have a nice private outdoor spa which you can book for yourself. I definetly recommended this place.

Great vibe, kind staff (thanks Hama!), cool building and chill out area downstairs. Shared shower/bath room was comfortable with good hot, powerful water pressure

Narita International Airport is 23 km from the property. apart from being the cleanest stay, the location and the river view is something i’ll never forget. the modern renovated touch to the traditional feel of the stay was immaculate. the space was so big and the photos don’t do it justice. the landlord is extremely kind, they own a coffee shop on the ground floor of the stay and have the tastiest matcha late 😊 hope to be back real soon!

Friendly Guest House Kawakin is a holiday home located in the Iwai Yumoto Onsen district of Minamiboso. The air-conditioned accommodation is 200 metres from Iwai Beach, and guests can benefit from private parking available on site and free WiFi. This guesthouse earns highest ratings! It starts with the owner, who shared useful information upfront. Upon arrival, Kai instructed us extremely well into the house and the facility. The house itself is in mint shape and offers everything for a perfect stay. It’s a very authentic house that let’s one enjoy rural Japan. We couldn’t use the outside facilities due to the weather but could well imagine how cozy the front yard would be during the summer. We will definitely come back to this beautiful retreat. Thanks again for having us!

The guest house is located in a geothermal area, with a number of hot springs nearby for guests to relax in. Great food, nice owners, huge room, eclectic in the best way possible, loved it. And so did my 5year old.
