We decided to stay at this particular accommodation because we wanted to stay somewhere quieter than the hustle and bustle of Anuradhapura. In the end, this was a big surprise for us. The room, although relatively small, was very nice and spotlessly clean, as was the bathroom, which had hot water, which is not common in accommodation of this price in Sri Lanka. There is also a small refrigerator in the room. We enjoyed two delicious meals prepared for us by the very kind hosts at a very good price. Mihintale is beautiful and we visited some important places around there. The area around the accommodation was very beautiful and tidy and you could see many of its animals to play in the trees.

Janaka is THE host—truly exceptional in the hospitality scene in Sri Lanka. He is incredibly kind and welcoming, making us feel completely at home, while also being highly professional and attentive to all our needs. He went out of his way to help us plan our days in Mihintale exactly as we wished—and what he managed to organize for us was no small feat! He was also genuinely concerned for our safety throughout our stay: while Sri Lanka is a very safe country, his attentiveness was still much appreciated. The food cooked by his wife was amazing—made with quality ingredients, prepared beautifully, and full of bold, authentic flavor. Easily one of the top three meals we had in Sri Lanka. If you're planning a trip to Anuradhapura or Mihintale to explore the sacred Buddhist sites, and you're looking for something authentic and off the tourist trail, stay in Mihintale. Mr. Palitha is very kind and helpful. Along with all the useful recommendations that he provided, he took his time to cook us breakfast before leaving. He has a beautiful family with a lot of stories to tell. After a long day of visiting, we relaxed outside, sitting on his picturesque porch near the lake, the only noise being the sound of nature. The location is clean, close to the city center. You are within walking distance from good restaurants, the lake and ATMs. The Anuradhapura ancient city is also reachable by a short tuk tuk ride.
