Amazing location between the bus station/train station and the old town, close to lots of restaurant options. Incredibly clean (the shower absolutely sparkled!) and spacious for two people. Sleeping in the loft was quite warm in July, even with the AC on, but that is no fault of the property, just something to note. We really appreciated having a washer/dryer! Detergent was already preloaded in the machine, so we didn’t need our own.

This place felt more authentic than some of the posh newly built ryokan out there. Sort of like staying with a Japanese family. The host is easygoing and speaks great English. He is happy to talk to you about Japanese culture if you show interest, otherwise he will just let you relax. The location can't be better, between train station and city center, in a quiet side street.

A 6-minute walk from JR Takayama Train Station, 力車イン Rickshaw inn offers non-smoking Japanese rooms and Western rooms with free Wi-Fi, an LCD TV and a private bathroom. A free-use kitchen is on site.

Great location. Super cozy! It was December when we stayed but the room was so warm and cozy. We had 2 epic naps there! The host is lovely and so helpful. Good value for money… can’t fault anything
