The owner was so helpful, friendly and wonderful, advising us on where to go in Takayama and which places to eat at. He also was amaizng in providing a light breakfast and coffee in the morning. The rooms were comfortable and warm, and futon were very comfortable.

We had a great stay in this little ryokan run by a friendly old lady who goes out of her way to make travellers feel welcome. It's an old house with an outdoor hot spring (we had the place to ourselves!). In the evening you can have dinner in the house (various options). The breakfast was excellent. I highly recommend staying here if you are looking for an authentic experience in the area. You might need a car if you want to reach the ryokan easily.

1. It's quite near Takayama Nohi Bus Center - about a 10 minute walk. 2. The property is very new, so everything is clean and in working condition. 3. There's a kitchen with fridge, microwave, toaster and kettle, where you can eat or prepare your food. 4. It's in a nice quiet neighborhood. 5. The owners, Peng and Oscar, went out of their way to make me feel welcome. They were very friendly and genuinely helpful, when I had some special requests. I couldn't have asked for nicer property owners!

Amazing location between the bus station/train station and the old town, close to lots of restaurant options. Incredibly clean (the shower absolutely sparkled!) and spacious for two people. Sleeping in the loft was quite warm in July, even with the AC on, but that is no fault of the property, just something to note. We really appreciated having a washer/dryer! Detergent was already preloaded in the machine, so we didn’t need our own.

The guesthouse is located up above the city center, close to everything. I believe there are 2 houses and I wasn’t in the main one but it was all clean, had 2 bathrooms and 2 toilets, all the utilities, and bonus there is a cute garden at the back where you’re allowed to smoke (this is uncommon for japanese houses). The host was really nice, spoke a good english and show me on a map everything that could be seen near the city center. I had a great time in Takayama, it’s a really beautiful place!

It is a very cozy hostel, you feel immediately at home. The owner is very helpful and gave us a lot of recommendations and information about the sourroundings. Also, there is lot of information at the reception you can read by yourself. There is a great bookshelf with interesting books for adults and also books and games for children. Our children loved them and they wanted to stay the whole day at the reception. In the morning we got coffee with a smile and the room is so comfortable it felt like home. There are so many small but nice details like the backup towel at the shower, the children books at the room or that we got three futons on the floor instead of the bunk bed, which is not very easy with small children or the well equipped kitchen. Great recommendation for this wonderful place!! I wish we could have stayed longer.
