Good quality with a spacious common area and a well equipped kitchen. The host was friendly, welcoming, and clearly cared about his guesthouse to a high standard. We felt right at home and he cleared the snow from our car windows too which was very thoughtful.

The absolute loveliest stay I’ve had in Japan. What a delight the hosts are - Glenda is an absolute gem and the loveliest. She used to tour around Japan as a singer! If you’re lucky enough, you can get her to sing a bit for you. Her husband is an incredibly talented chef and cooked us a huge and wonderful dinner - probably the best food I’ve had in Japan. Strong recommend!

Lovely guesthouse close to Higashi Chaya. It is run by an older couple who live on site and there are two or three guest rooms and an adorable Shiba Inu living in the house. I had the smallest room on the ground floor, which was incredibly cheap. Just a few tatami, a small table, a low chair, hooks for clothes. An aircon/heater that worked very well. Natural day light. For me, who goes out sightseeing, that was more than enough. There is also a large kitchen/ living room you are free to use, laundry facilities. All bathrooms are shared and are spick-and-span. The hosts are super friendly and speak English. Buses for the sights are close by, one bus stop basically in front of the house, another 300m away. Also, there are two really great onsen. Yamato Onsen is maybe 200m away and has muddy brown lovely onsen water. Kuwana Yu is about 500m and has fewer onsen baths but a sauna. Both are vintage Showa era public baths, basic but super clean, bring your own towel.

I enjoyed my stay with the very friendly owners. Had a great meal and a nice evening together in the restaurant, meetings like this are part of what makes travelling great. Basic Japanese style room, but all perfectly clean. Great location and good value for money

Amazing experience to stay in this beautiful old tea house, in the rooms where the geishas once entertained. We saw and used the narrow stairs that they made their scenic entrance by: which must have been quite difficult, in wooden shoes and beautiful but complicated dress and hairstyles! The stairs can be a bit difficult to manage even without it :-) We were exceptionally well taken care of by the young woman who I guess was an apprentice at the tea house, and lived under us but watched over us! When there was an eartquake (!) she immediatly checked if we were OK (which we were). And when I managed to forget my favourite dress :-( she sent it by post package to my daughter who lives in Japan. So caring and nice. And the place is positively beautiful.

Wonderful hostel in a great location! The beds were comfortable and the facility was clean. I think this is a great place to stay in Kanazawa.

This guesthouse is within a 5-minute walk to the popular Higashi Chaya district. It has all the amenities we needed, including a washing machine that really helped us get our clothes cleaned quickly. There was plenty of space for 2 families and the host was super lovely when meeting us to check us in.
