José is a great host and very helpful. The place is almost by the beach and very quiet but five minutes from the main street. I loved the garden. The shower is very good with a good pressure. I booked a room with A/C, which was very strong. Thanks José for the magnet: it is already in place here at home.

The location is perfect for Tortuguero - right in the middle of the main street. We chose the main hotel with one room opening right into the lobby and another off to the side. Normally i wouldnt want that but we loved it for this particular location. I wouldn't have changed it. FYI they also offer a guest house with shared washrooms and living room/kitchen area just around the corner. There are no cars so it is nice to just walk straight out and everthing is right there. The floors are mosaic tiles with turtles and crabs laid in them. I loved them. The private rooms are big and the beds are comfortable. Casa Thirema arranged for our pickup from San Jose and our excursions ( we did the lookout over the Caribbean Sea on our boat ride in - long hot walk up the stairs but amazingly worth it for the views, private kayak tour through the canals and a night walk [Angelo was amazing] - recommend them all) and our transportation including boatride and taxi to Puerto Viejo afterwards. Very easy - so glad i didnt have to figure that out on my own! Tortuguero is unique and well worth the trip! A secluded area that is a must see in our opinion. We feel like our trip just started in Toruguerro. We had already travelled all through Central and a lot of the Pacific side of CR. If you haven't been to Tortuguero you have missed Costa Rica's gem. They call the area that you boat in on the "Little Amazon" and it is so rightfully named. This was and is still the highlight of our trip - we are still travelling down the Caribbean coast. I would definitely recommend staying 2 nights though, especially during turtle season - we were off season so we missed out. This is a true look at how People live in this area. No 5 star hotels or chains here. If you are looking for resort style life don't bother. If you are looking for unique unforgettable stop - this is your spot.

What a wonderful gem of a place, with great facilities, very comfortable, perfect location in the centre of the village, 1 minute from the beach. The staff was exceptional, especially Sylvia, who made us feel welcomed and at home.

If you want to escape the confused wandering bands of German and French tourists at least for a little while, stay on the ocean side. This place has a much appreciated feeling of seclusion, and the sound of the ocean at night is worth the price.

Nicely located hotel with new furnishings and an interesting relaxation area. Helpful staff – nothing to complain about!
