* Visit to a historic Anglo Boer War site during a normal game drive, where the pivotal "Battle of Paardefontein" was fought The setting is good and we were in a anex to the main lodge with 2 other bedrooms with asitting room and fully equiped kitchen not used as we had full board. A lovely fire which was lit for us. 7 minutes walk to the lodge.

The en suite canvas tents have a patio and offer views of the valley. Each has a built-in shower, hot running water and electricity. Amazing experience!! It was a totally wonderful package of stay (comfortable warm beds, clean rooms), excellent food (we went as a family of 4 and 3 were vegetarians, all efforts were put in to providing them with specially curated vegetarian meals), game drives!! Amazing drive experience with very knowledgeable ranger!! He put in so much effort to show us maximum wild life. The morning coffee with giraffes is something we will remember for lifetime. James, thank you for these unforgettable morning and afternoon rides. You immediately felt that he was a very experienced and funny ranger! Keep it up! We were able to see four of the big five. The lodge is very luxurious. Please remember that you live in the "bush" and you can sometimes encounter insects and other creatures while showering under the open sky. :-) But that's exactly what makes it so special! Offering an intimate Big 5 safari experience, Quatermain's 1920's Safari Camp features a boma bonfire and BBQ facilities. It is located in the Amakhala Game Reserve. Everything was superb. The staff, the tents, the hospitality, the food, the gamedrives, the knowledge of Johan, the fun with Lungi, the kitschenstaff. Everybody made us feel at home!
