If you are coming to Udawalawe for a safari then this is the place to stay. Located very close to the National Park entrance this camp had us feeling like we were one with nature. Our room tent/cabin was ready on arrival. It is not a hotel so you should know going in that this is a camping adventure. Beds were comfy and cam with very good mosquito nets. The bathroom was clean and the water pressure was fine. There is no A/C but you do get a floor fan and the room also has plenty of outlets for charging. You get your own private deck in front of your tent with chairs and a beautiful view of the river. I would suggest allowing them to prepare all of your meals. They were all delicious and came at a fair price considering there is nowhere else to eat within a mile or two. The camp prepares and takes car of everything for you, meals, free river tour, and free night walk after dinner. They also will book your safari for you. Once you arrive, you do nothing. It was absolutely amazing.

50 km from Tangalle Lagoon, Atha Safari Resort is a recently renovated property set in Udawalawe and offers air-conditioned rooms with free WiFi and private parking. Featuring full-day security, this property also provides guests with an outdoor fireplace. The guest house features river views, a sun terrace and a 24-hour front desk. This was the best accommodation we stayed in Sri Lanka. Our safari trip was very well organized and it was really great. The hotel is built in a beautiful setting with a river. Everything was perfect.

Both free WiFi and parking on-site are available at the guest house free of charge. Your totally absorbed by the nature! You can totally relax with the sounds of nature all around you. The staff were fantastic and always ready to help answer any questions including “what bird is that” x 20. The staff were patient and knowledgeable and they made my experience amazing!!

Kottawatta surprised us at every turn; from the cold facial towels upon entry to the poolside drinks to an amazing curry for dinner. As a plus, the room was extremely comfortable. Our safari organized through the hotel was exceptional!

The on-site Rose Restaurant serves Western, Chinese and Sri Lankan food. Rooms, the pool and the area is clean. No problem with that. No rats as it was mentioned in google reviews. Staff is very kind, friendly and helpful. Room is spacious with some flies which didn't bother at all. Big area which is lightened and you can have a romantic walk. You have a very close connection to nature here. You can it on the spot - good restaurant with pretty big menu, tasty food and veeeery reasonable prices! Perfect stay, we'll definitely come back! International and traditional Sri Lankan dishes are served by the chef on demand, at the main restaurant. Athgira River Camping offers a great outdoor dining experience as well as a barbecue dinner and cooking demonstrations. Real wild cocktails and a nice wine selection are available as well. The staff took care of us like a 5 star hotel would do. They organized a safari on the day and transport the next day for us. I was impressed by the quality of their services.

Barbecue dinner is provided around a campfire. Free WiFi is available in the public areas of the property. Friendly and interesting people , we loved the outdoor bird watching walk during sunset.

- Pre-dinner drinks around the campfire and wine during dinner This ecolodge was enjoyable for my children, husband and myself. The tents were roomy and had flushing toilets and warm showers. The dinners were elegant on white tablecloth under the stars. The safari guide and driver did an excellent job pointing out elephant herds, birds and crocodiles at this park. I recommend this lodge.
