Camping along the river was very appealing. The very strong rains made using the river impossible and it was quite damp for tenting, but that was not the fault of the proprietors. They arranged safari vehicles and guides and gave us very good advice about the length of the safari that would be best for our group.

This was the best accommodation we stayed in Sri Lanka. Our safari trip was very well organized and it was really great. The hotel is built in a beautiful setting with a river. Everything was perfect.

This is one of the best locations I’ve visited so far. Situated in a very remote area where there’s limited access to outer world. You have to take a basic nature trail to reach the destination which my family enjoyed much. once you entered the premises it’s like you stepped into another country. Very calm and peaceful environment so we need to adopt to the destination. I recommend this place to all nature lovers who look for places where you can blend with nature. Limited electricity so prepare yourself with backups. (power banks, flashlights, ect)

Offering river views, this fan-cooled tent has a private entrance, seating area and extra large bed with spring mattress. It includes a hot water shower, towel and shoe racks. It was really nice stay! We stayed one night in the cottage and second night in the tent. We really enjoyed it! Restaurant staff were super nice and friendly! We also did safari tour with Santha - he was amazing driver and the best guide. He has really good eyes so we were lucky and saw lots of animals. Thank u! Simona and Lenka

Athgira River Camp is located at the door step of Udawalawe National Park with views of Rakwana River. It’s very close to Udawalawe reservoir and to the Elephant Orphanage. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The food was good and the pool area was nice. They arranged the safari to Udawalawe National Park. The driver took us around the park.

I thought the loud music was a bit irritating, but maybe that was just an exeption!
