If you are coming to Udawalawe for a safari then this is the place to stay. Located very close to the National Park entrance this camp had us feeling like we were one with nature. Our room tent/cabin was ready on arrival. It is not a hotel so you should know going in that this is a camping adventure. Beds were comfy and cam with very good mosquito nets. The bathroom was clean and the water pressure was fine. There is no A/C but you do get a floor fan and the room also has plenty of outlets for charging. You get your own private deck in front of your tent with chairs and a beautiful view of the river. I would suggest allowing them to prepare all of your meals. They were all delicious and came at a fair price considering there is nowhere else to eat within a mile or two. The camp prepares and takes car of everything for you, meals, free river tour, and free night walk after dinner. They also will book your safari for you. Once you arrive, you do nothing. It was absolutely amazing.

Felt like home. He organized the safari, the driver was a great guide. Lots of animals to see and lots of elephants. The owner is very kind. Definitely one of the most beautiful places I have stayed in Sri Lanka. Highly recommended for a few days getaway

Both free WiFi and parking on-site are available at the guest house free of charge. Your totally absorbed by the nature! You can totally relax with the sounds of nature all around you. The staff were fantastic and always ready to help answer any questions including “what bird is that” x 20. The staff were patient and knowledgeable and they made my experience amazing!!

The surroundings of the camp are just stunning. The gardeners Indika, Upalai and Kumara do a very good job. The area is very quiet and full of birdlife an other animals. Our bushwalks with Nuwan and Dimuth were great, although we could‘nt find any elephants. Kumara led us to a beautiful waterfall where we had e refreshing bath. The service and food cooked by Upalai and Rajitha was excellent. Thanks a lot to all staff - we will come back one day 👋🏼🙏🏻

The units will provide guests with a desk and a kettle. we loved everything about our stay. it was clean, had a big room, nice pool, great food and the check-in expierience was superb! we would have loved to stay a bit longer! they arranged a safari tour for us which was absolutely fantastic. the guide was great and had a lot of knowledge about the animals and where to find them. 10/10 would recommend!

The on-site Rose Restaurant serves Western, Chinese and Sri Lankan food. The room was spacious, with shower and toilet in an open area, you could really enjoy the nature 😀. The pool was clean, and the place wasn't crowded. We could see the staff taking care of the resort on a daily basis. The food was nice. We got on a safari organized by them, which was also fine. W went for half day 3.30 hrs, and it was more than enough to see all the spices. It is very close to the village where you can walk and find nice restaurants and bars, alongside some really cheap shops.

International and traditional Sri Lankan dishes are served by the chef on demand, at the main restaurant. Athgira River Camping offers a great outdoor dining experience as well as a barbecue dinner and cooking demonstrations. Real wild cocktails and a nice wine selection are available as well. The tent was great. The air con worked really well, the extra fan was great too. The bed was comfy, the bathroom was great.
