Kambu Mara Camp is situated in Sekenani and offers a bar. Featuring full-day security, this property also provides guests with an outdoor fireplace. The accommodation features a 24-hour front desk, airport transfers, a shared kitchen and free WiFi. The staff was so friendly. They helped us with everything! The tent was so much bigger than expected and very comfortable. The food prepared by the chef is excellent and the bonfire at night was just amazing. We stayed for 4 nights and loved every second of it! The view of the zebra’s and giraffes really close to the camp in the morning was amazing. And we loved the bush walk with Nelson :) Thanks to all of you guys! Nelson, Simon, Felix and everyone else!

This tent has a seating area, a balcony, garden views and a shared bathroom. The unit has 2 beds.

With garden views, Greenwood safari camp is set in Talek and has a restaurant, a 24-hour front desk, bar, garden, sun terrace and outdoor fireplace. This property offers access to a balcony, darts, free private parking and free WiFi. The accommodation offers airport transfers, while a car rental service is also available. The owner of the camp has assembled a great team of commited people. They provided us with everything: information, transport, guide and superb food. In fact, you can have the camp arrange your game drives in the Masai Mara and your transport from and to Nairobi, all at very competetive rates. The owner, Magdy, will explain everything to you through WhatsApp. All the accomodation and facilities are safe and clean (but opt for the larger and more comfortable rooms!). I did a lot of research before my booking, and I think Greenwood (also recommended in the Lonely Planet guide book, by the way) is among the best choices, if you are on a budget. Go there!

Located in Talek, Talek Bush Camp, Masai Mara provides accommodation with seating area. This property offers access to a terrace, free private parking and free WiFi. Extra facilities include a 24-hour front desk, meeting rooms, a tour desk and housekeeping service. Talek Bush Camp – A Comprehensive Review It has taken me some time to be able to write down into words just how fantastic staying at Talek was, as I feel such a sadness to no longer be there. If you are considering booking this place, or you are looking for somewhere in the Masai Mara to stay, then look no further. Talek is sensational. My family and I felt like VIP’s from the moment we arrived and that treatment did not stop until even after we left Masai Mara. I’ll break down my review into a few important sections, but overall, I feel like I have left my heart at Talek and with the wonderful, warm, conscientious and welcoming people that live and work there. Before Arriving at Camp: I am one of those people that likes to meticulously plan, and that meant that I had found Talek, and Abdul (the wonderful owner) online one year before I even left the UK. From the moment that I messaged Abdul, he was friendly, informative and nothing was too much trouble. This is something that remained true of Abdul and his team throughout our stay. Abdul kindly arranged a transport for us from Nairobi and the five-hour drive to Talek was seamless. The drivers were kind, informative and friendly and even allowed us time to stop and take pictures on our journey. Before arrival Abdul explained how best the safari drives would work and even booked a hot air balloon trip for my husband and I on the day of our anniversary. Every time I messaged Abdul, nothing was too much trouble He was always happy to help and took the time to respond carefully to every query. Our driver, I am so sorry I have forgotten his name, who works at the camp, even took us to the local Masai Village where we met the people and learned all about their culture. What an experience. It was truly fantastic. Accommodation: We stayed in one of the cottages, a little brickwork cabin down with a wonderful view of the river. (One of the only ones to survive the horrendous flood).

Set in Masai Mara, Pearl Mara offers free WiFi, and guests can enjoy a fitness centre, a garden and a shared lounge.

There is a private bathroom with bidet in some units, along with free toiletries, a hairdryer and slippers. Peal mara was excellent! super friendly staff, responsive, polite, helpful. The tent was luxurious, clean, comfortable, safe! There were people walking us back and forth in case wildlife appears in the way. Sunset and sunset views were also top. The people working there are always available to accommodate your every need. The whole place is built in respect to the surrounding nature. The safari driver, Sietoti, and Rachel, a trainee, were experienced and educated, and was able to identify every corner of Maasai Mara and provide rich information about nature and wildlife during our daily safari game drives. A truly amazing duo who made our trip unforgettable. They really took care of us. Also, the food was delicious, chef was excellent! I would definitely go back again!

The fireplace is a top feature of this tent. The well-equipped kitchenette has a stovetop, a refrigerator and kitchenware. The tent features a tea and coffee maker, a seating area, a balcony with garden views as well as a private bathroom boasting a shower. The unit has 1 bed. Remarkable three days at Kobe Mara. Even though we arrived by car late at night and during a storm, we were warmly welcomed with dinner and blankets. The tent was clean and comfortable, and camp location was excellent. With only 4 tents and 1 large house spaced out from each other, no fences and no other camps around, it is so peaceful (apart from the animals of course!) and a perfect escape from city life. We recommend booking game drives via the camp too - our guide Nickson was incredible and we saw all the animals we had hoped to find. Kobe Mara staff did a fantastic job and everyone was so friendly and kind. As a bonus, we were treated to a group dinner as all guests were departing on the same day, featuring a Maasai celebration. A special thanks to our waiter Jonathan and the manager Sammy for everything :)

Located in Aitong, Enkusero Mara offers accommodation with seating area. This luxury tent provides free private parking, free shuttle service and free WiFi. Boasting family rooms, this property also provides guests with an outdoor fireplace. Small (3 tents, one of which is a large family tent), intimate, charming camp, unfenced, ideally located, in the north conservancy, just 5 minutes from the Maasai Mara’s Musiara gate entrance, 15 minutes from the air strip. Completely local ownership and management, which we highly value and one of the reasons we chose this, together with the location and the small size. We had tent 3, high on stilts, large, private, wooden floors, huge netted windows, outside deck all around, unobstructed views on the savannah. Big comfortable bed with good mattress, en-suite bathroom with toilet and huge shower, running water. Electricity and hot water are solar - electricity is around the clock, so maybe the camp tops it up at night with a generator, but we never heard one. Large, charming traditional mess tent, with bar area, and extra lounge, wonderful outdoor deck with fire pit, small plunge pool with deck chairs. Food was excellent, they will apparently cater to dietary needs but have a fixed menu. Most meals in the mess tent, some scenically set in the bush. All drinks were included as was daily laundry. Highly knowledgeable and dedicated guides (William the owner, and Alex), game drives were mostly inside the park and arranged as and when we wished, with picnic breakfast and/or lunch, or not, as we wished. Park fees were included which made the offer we got superb value for money. We had been on safari several times almost 4 decades ago when luxury safaris were mobile or semi-permanent tented camps, small, unfenced, only with simple drop toilets and hot bucket showers, communication only via radio, bush cooking, communal mess tent and fire pit… but with an abundance of local staff delivering perfect, exclusive service. That’s the feeling we were looking for again and this is the closest we found on our trip to Kenya: very similar traditional, exclusive safari feeling , experience and charm, with great service, modern comforts, but no excesses and low imprint.
