Amazing location to get away, private beach, and close to Carcavado NP. Meals were very good, and the staff guides, and bartender were friendly and knowledgeable. Hope to visit again.

Set in Cabo Matapalo, Four Monkeys Eco Lodge - Jungle & Beach offers free WiFi, and guests can enjoy a garden, a private beach area and a terrace. If you love animals and like to be surrounded by nature, then this is the best place to be. While we were there we saw hummingbirds, macaws, toucans, halloween crab and two different types of monkeys. All of them in the garden of the property. The plants and trees attract the animals. The hosts are very friendly and gave good advice about things that can be done nearby (e.g. horseback riding). Their 3 dogs and 2 cats are adorable. We miss this place already. Be aware that you are in a less-developed area of Costa Rica with limited options of restaurants.

Luna Lodge is a 10-minute drive from Carate Local Airport, 2 hours' drive from Puerto Jimenez Domestic Airport. Very warm and inviting. Staff knowledgeable and helpful. Good guides and a long list of activities for purchase. Probably best food in Carate and ranks among the best prepared "lodge" meals I've had anywhere.
