We were thrilled to help with grape picking in the morning, receiving a basket of grapes to enjoy munching on. Each family member is friendly, kind and passionate about their business, also helping with the cheese factory location nearby.

The place itself is amazing. The attention to detail and the dedication of the team is superb. Ana's greeting and tips were special, and it made our stay memorable. We were given an amazingly prepared breakfast with eggs from their own chickens (whom we were introduced to) fresh apples , and juice from their own garden also fresh local produce and some tasty cheeses! We wanted to use the sauna super late in the evening and Ana was very accomodating to our request, also the sauna worked very well. If you're close to Covilha, you can't miss this unforgettable experience from start to finish. We will definitely return!

The house is gorgeous, and every view from the windows felt like a fairy tale. The location is convenient for hiking, with trailheads that are walking distance from the house. The breakfast that is provided is huge, and the bread was fresh-baked. However, I would probably arrive with some groceries for snacks, because the nearest full grocery store is in Seia. I think the only dinner option in town is at the resort, which is excellent and well-priced. The chef came out and gave us her recipe for the rice cooked in orange, which we are looking forward to trying out. All of the staff we interacted with were lovely, and Nuno especially was so helpful. The drive to the house was a little tricky, and he led us there so that we could navigate the turns. He had excellent advice about hiking as well.

As you drive up to the house, you will drive all the way around the cathedral and enter parking on the backside of the cathedral. Depending on the number of cars parked in cathedral square, you might have to turn left around them to enter thru the gate of #25. If you see #27, do not continue on the road to the right. The entrance to parking in a gated courtyard is to the left of 27. Once you are there, however, the hostess is so very nice and the location is perfect. The home is beautiful, filled with antiques and charm, and there’s a pleasant garden to sit in. Our room was perhaps a little smaller than the average hotel room, but with a comfortable bed, super modern bathroom, and view of the garden. The house is air conditioned. We wished we’d planned 2 days to potter around Guarda and enjoy. As other guests have advised, there is one, big set of stairs you have to go up with your luggage. In the morning, breakfast is at the base of those stairs. No ramp or elevator. Breakfast was lovely: meat and cheese, cereal, fruit, bread, fresh jams, a sampling of cakes and coffee/tea/juices/water.
