We could not meet the regular shuttle schedule at the train station, so the staff offered to pick up us at the Jigokudani Yaen Koen (Snow Monkey tourist site) parking area. I guess that a senior staff (if not the boss) used her car to pick us up, coz we took the “real” shuttle the next day to the train station. Knowing we do not speak Japanese and wish to have a private onsen, but Suminoyu only has public, they helped us book a private onsen at a nearby location saving us some time to figure that out. Although not all staff speak English well, they are always helpful. Those English-speaking staff always try their best to assist us. We came for the Onsen and Snow Monkey so decided to stay a night in Ryokan instead of rushing back to Tokyo. The Japanese Ryokan style 2 meals deal (一泊二食) is always enjoyable. It was the first time we had a traditional Tatami room, very neat. It's a worthy revisit place!

On just a 5-minute drive from Yudanaka Station, Wafu-no-Yado MASUYA features beautiful Japanese-style rooms, hot spring baths and free Wi-Fi. Some rooms boast a private outdoor hot spring bath.

The dinner and breakfast were amazing, excellent service all around from check in to check out, free shuttle transfer from the Yukanada station and to the Snow Monkey Park. The river view is stunning and within walking distance to Shibu Onsen.

It was an exceptional cultural experience in an authentic Japanese place. The hotel offers rooms in a traditional style, while we also enjoyed wearing national yukata dresses and taking onsen baths, which are included. We have heard a lot about excellent Japanese service and now we indeed experienced it. The personnel approaches each customer with personal touch and satisfies individual needs. This was an amazing onsen house. Located very close to the JR terminal station (3 min walk). The open air onsen is superb and we have enjoyed every single minute inside. The room is super spacious - I would even say the biggest we have ever had during our stay in Japan - you get free mochi, hot water, green tee ingredients every day. They even replaced the linens and towels after 1 night. The staff is very nice and helpful. They called a gas station for me, which charged us more than they should. There is an attached parking lot for free. The whole accommodation is a traditional onsen house with tatami floor. The stay was very nice and enjoyable. And not only due to the superb onsen inside. I highly recommend this!

The owner was super sweet and helpful (driving to the monkey park and the train station). The onsen were great, the private onsen was almost all the time available! A spacious room and the little town felt like a little fairytale (it was snowing when we were there).

This traditional home is stunning, with 2 private Onsen that you can book just after the check-in. My room was wide, clean and really traditional with beautiful view. Mr Akira and his family are beautiful people.
