The guesthouse is right in the middle of the village, so it's a pretty sight. The meals were copious. If you ask for a vegetarian option in advance, they can prepare it for you (but it will be the same for each dinner). The staff was always present, smiling and helpful. They even let us eat later than scheduled because of a train problem. The traditional Japanese room is big and comfortable.

The drive up to the location was gorgeous, the host picked me up from Tsumago and after my stay dropped me off to the Nagiso train station. While the host speaks limited english, he is a wonderful conversationalist and a joy to talk to.
The accommodation itself is very spacious, the interior design beautiful, and the onsen baths were at really comfortable temperature for me.
While I was unable to eat all of the food they served (I have a small stomach, not their fault), I really wish i could have, because I think it was one of the best meals I've ever had.
I will definitely come back some day.

Great location for anyone exploring the Nakasendo trail, MOUNTAinn is right beside Nagiso station.
Staff is very welcoming and accomodating, we asked with a short notice if they could come earlier for check in and they agreed right away.
The house is very pretty, clean and big, with comfy beds and cosy common area. The little terrace with a stunning view is absolutely fabulous for a morning coffee. There are also some magazines and books to read, and a CD/ radio player which makes it feel very homy.
There are 2 sinks and 2 shower rooms which is convenient for bigger groups of travellers.
We had a fantastic stay!

Not only is the guest house absolutely beautiful, but the host was extremely helpful and hospitable which made this stay the best we had during our Japan trip. He drove us to Magome so that we managed to complete the Nakasendo trail just in time before the last bus departed. He also made a dinner reservation for us and drove us to an Onigiri restaurant for breakfast. We had a great stay!

My family loved our stay here and were sad to leave. Beautiful, traditional-style guesthouse, with our own external courtyard. Located along the old Nakasendo, amidst lots of old shops. Just across the street from a traditional confectioner’s and sake brewery.
