Overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, Casa das Proteas is located at Estrada das Covas nº8, São Jorge, Madeira Island, 50 km from Funchal. The location is excellent as a starting point for several hikes. Very friendly staff and owner, great breakfast and homemade dinners. The house overall is amazing, its very pleasant to stay there. Rooms are spacious with fully functional kitchens, if you want to cook by yourself. There are also garden with benches and a pool with a good view on the ocean.

The location of the hotel was fabulous brilliant views of the sea and the staff were so friendly and very helpful when we had to stay an extra night as our plane home was cancelled! The hotel also provided a very good complimentary mini bus service to the start and finish of various walks and to Funchal and to the airport. Thoroughly recommend the hotel and place!

With 400 meters of private sea front, the 5-star property offers spacious rooms all with balcony and views of the Atlantic and the Deserted Islands. Overall, we loved everything here. I'm serious, it was perfect and met all my expectations and I spent some of the best days of my life here.

Set within tropical gardens on Madeira Island, this charming guesthouse features far-reaching sea views and 2 outdoor seawater pools and access to the sea. Beautiful traditional hotel very close to the old town and all its restaurants. A real Madeira experience that one can't get at all the characterless modern hotels. Superb facilities with two lovely pools and the ability to swim in the sea. Very friendly and helpful staff. Quiet at night - a real oasis- but within easy walking distance nightlife. A perfect place to stay.
