The breakfast was generous and really good quality. Delicious rolls, cheese, ham, muesli, yoghurt. And great, fresh ground coffee and Sonnentor teas. And pear juice from a local farm. The couple who run this place are very kind, warm and gentle and the rooms were spotless and comfortable. I arrived after a very long, snowy drive and it was so relaxing to just get to my room and crash.

The family-run Hotel zum Schwarzen Bären is located in a quiet side street in the centre of Linz, only a 3-minute walk away from the main square. It offers free Wi-Fi access.

(DISCLAIMER: We are a mid-fifties couple from UK with both our sons at university - one in UK, one in Linz, Austria this year. Plus we love a Parkrun if possible) The 2nd time I'd been to Linz and 1st for my wife. Our eldest son is at the JK University here for the year. By some incredibly interesting planning by our son, we met him in Salzburg the previous day, then missed him in Linz as he'd gone off for the weekend with friends. Hey-ho! I wanted to show Linz to my wife. The hotel location was perfect as we were near the city centre - just the other side of the river. Plus, we were a km or so from the Linz Parkrun - a BIG Bonus as I'd run it on the previous trip. Plus we were right next to a tram stop to get to the University for a sight-seeing trip, etc. Bed great, location perfect, room was clean, shower was great, checkout time was perfect for us to do parkrun, return, shower then leave. We didn't have breakfast at the hotel; we found a nearby coffee-shop on the walk back to the main Linz train station.

Great family room with lots of space and two beds and bathrooms. Tasty breakfast. Kids enjoyed the kids room. Parking on site. Easy to get inside when checking in late.

The hotel was quite central, only a 20 minute walk to the centre of Linz. Parking is underground of the hotel which is very convenient and free of charge, a welcome bonus. The room was spacious and immaculately clean, a spacious shower room and the bed was extremely comfortable. We have stayed in B & B hotels in both Austria and France and have always found them to be cost effective for the excellent facilities and comfort.

This modern 3-star hotel is a few minutes away from the A7 motorway and 3 km from the centre of Linz. The ibis Styles Linz offers a heated outdoor pool in summer, several tennis courts, and a sauna.
