Misty mountains, cascading rice terraces, thick jungle, unspoiled beaches and two of Southeast Asia’s most time-honoured cities – the variety of landscapes in Vietnam seems so endless, it’s hard to know where to begin. For most visitors, it all starts – or ends – in Hanoi, the chaotic capital of the north. Here, you’ll find golden temples, Buddha shrines and holy monasteries beside bustling markets, manic streets and towering skyscrapers. East of here is Halong Bay, the now iconic archipelago of soaring limestone cliffs, which feels a world away. Take a junk boat tour through the bay to appreciate this natural wonder in all its glory. At its narrowest point – roughly halfway down the elongated S-shaped land area – Vietnam is just 50 km across. Nearby are more natural wonders, like the sprawling Phong Nha-Ke National Park. Above ground, this park is a jungle wilderness, while below it is a vast network of caves, with the world’s biggest among them. Further south, historic Hoi An preserves a legacy of ancient customs in its old town, while Nha Trang’s crescent-shaped beaches offer access to offshore islands. And then there’s Ho Chi Minh, a city with as much energy as the capital, but different in so many ways. If there’s one thing you should embrace here, it’s the incredibly varied and delicious street food – but a sobering visit to the War Remnants Museum is also worthwhile. Vietnam is very well-developed, so you can rest assured of finding accommodation all over the country – even in remote places like Sapa in the north. Options include hotels, hostels and eco-lodges.

stayed in the dorm room here and absolutely loved the calm and peaceful atmosphere. The place is surrounded by fresh air and greenery, which made my stay feel really relaxing — a perfect escape from the noise and rush of the city. The dorm itself was cozy and clean, with comfortable beds and soft lighting that made it easy to unwind. Each bed has its own curtain, so even in a shared room, you still have your own little private corner. The common area is also really nice, with plenty of space to sit, read, or just enjoy a cup of coffee in peace. The hosts were super kind and helpful, always making sure everyone felt at home. You can really tell they care about creating a warm, welcoming space for travelers

The couple - owner - is just cute and accomodating. They have lots of comics, toys, a dog and a cat running around, cute, active, may be cautious at first but just spend a few mins and they would be lovely to play with. The place is quite near the center, got bikes for rent, you can just communicate your needs and I think they will try to accomodate. Also located in the foothill, take a walk to the top for a broad view of the city, cool. Room is enough for 4 pp and clean. The view is amazing, plus no mosquitoes or sum. Considering the price as well, the stay is decent. Would recommend.

The onsen here is truly a hidden gem in Hanoi. From the moment I entered, I was impressed by the cleanliness and attention to detail – everything felt organized and authentic. The mineral water was warm and gentle on the skin, and after soaking for some time, I felt lighter, healthier, and very refreshed. The staff was kind and explained the etiquette clearly, which made me comfortable even though it was my first visit. It’s such a rare experience to find something so Japanese right in the heart of Vietnam.

Kevin and Lind were always available to assist me with anything I needed. I totally love how all the staff were upbeat and friendly. They have a fridge in the lobby if ever thirsty lounging by the pool. Massages are available with 30min notice a masseuse will show up in the lobby at the hotel with a dedicated room in hotel for massages at great rates. I liked my 10AM massages 😊. Beds were comfortable. Everything was perfect for me. Thank you team at Nostalgia

We spent 4 nights here and had an unforgettable stay. It was the best hotel on our entire Vietnam trip. Everyone was very friendly and accommodating and we felt right at home. Highlights were the welcome drinks, which always gave us a warm reception, and the evening foot bath. Furthermore, the hotel property has a fantastic location with a view of the rice fields, the rooms were spacious and very clean. We felt very comfortable and would come back. We rate our stay with 10++/10
