Equally wonderful excursions can be found along the border at the ruins of ancient Penjikent and the surrounding Fann Mountains. Tracing the Pyan River south from Khorog, the Wakhan Corridor is sprinkled with picturesque villages, ancient shrines and crumbling castle ruins. The corridor runs right up to the border so it’s possible to cross into Afghanistan and explore the Wakhan from the other side. This was one of the nicest hotels I have ever been to! Everything is clean and well-maintained. The staff are super friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet is unbelievably delicious and huge. If you're in Dushanbe - I highly highly recommend staying here! Additionally, the wifi is super fast.
