We had a wonderful time at Explorer Guesthouse and could fully kick back and relax. The staff was exceptional and put in a lot of effort to make us feel comfortable. Also the breakfast is very much recommendable. The rooms are lovely, very clean and have beautiful decor.

Beautifully furnished large apartment with a small terrace high above the ground, in a classy quiet area. Phil greeted us warmly, helped with our luggage and picked fresh passion fruit from his garden for us. Lots of tips about the area, restaurants, and everything we wanted to know. Spacious,very clean and comfortable rooms overlooking swimming pool. Netflix provided and a great breakfast. Guest house is lovely with great views from breakfast room. Christine was a superb host, she even offered to make us takeaway coffee on the morning we were leaving exceptionally early for the airport and waved us off! I would definitely go back. Thank you

The property is stunning. Beautifully surrounded by nature and with some very cute farm animals. The place has a special air to it, really making you feel home and at peace. Very cute, has some nice shopping centres, nicely located between Cape Town and Stellenbosch, nothing is a far drive. There can be some traffic on week days though, but if you leave earlier in the morning it's fine. Quiet place, easy to drive around or get an uber. Lots of wine farms near by and some great restaurants (trip advisor and google both have good lists for these). Some great hikes that are nearby as well.

The city is well laid out and it's easy to find your way. There are some hidden gems which could be better popularised. All the amenities one would need are to be found in Somerset West and it is within easy reach of Cape Town. There are some excellent restaurants and vineyards within easy reach.

Loved the area, close to Strand Beach, but couldn't find local restaurants only the Somerset Mall. Maybe more info should be provided about where the local facilities are so one doesn't spend unnecessary time driving up and down hoping to find the local stores.

There is so much to do in and around Somerset West (scenic drives, fruit farms, wine farms, olive farms, historic sites, etc.), and the summer weather is fantastic. Great proximity to Cape Town, the airport, etc.

Sleepy little town.

Sleepy little town. Very beautiful nestled between mountains and the ocean. Lots of restaurants, stores and wine farms conveniently located. Absolutely able to walk around, but good Über coverage as well. The Main Road is the spine of the town, and is dotted with artisenal burger restaurants, Sushi and more local fare.

It is located near Stellenbosch and a reasonable drive from Cape Town. All the amenities you need including shopping, cinema, restaurants etc. Depending on the time of year the weather (it was cold when we visited this year)it is an ideally situated location.

We stayed in 3 units on this absolutely stunning, beautifully maintained, family friendly property with a huge garden, sparkling clean pools, strutting peacocks, cutest little bunnies. The communal pool has fabulous 360 degree views of the Helderberg Basin. 6 mins drive to the centre of Somerset West, the units are spotless and well equipped, super comfy beds, good wifi. 24 hour helpful security, Matthew welcomed us warmly and showed us to our units, everyone we met was really friendly and efficient.

The apartment is fitted with all the equipment required for a self catering stay. The kitchens utensils are are from the best brands available. The furniture is stylish and comfortable. The estate borders a wildlife reserve and the quiet and privacy guarantees a restful stay. The hot tub on the open deck was especially nice.

Stayed at 'On Sandstone' about 7 years ago and once again largely enjoyed the experience. While not up to standards of our earlier visit, the homely bedroom had character with a great view of Somerset West. The hosts also provided excellent breakfasts.
