FAQs about hotels in Cape Town

Cool, Colourful Cape

Between mountains and beaches, the 2nd largest city in South Africa mixes history, resilient modernity, and a typical laidback African character. From the top of Table Mountain to the colourful Bo Kaap quarter, and from the Victoria & Albert Waterfront to the modern business district, Cape Town blends multicultural influences and beautiful nature.

Known as Kaapstad in Afrikaans, its sunny weather and mild temperatures make it a perfect place to enjoy the large number of beaches that surround it. From Sunset Beach to Hout Bay, and from Simon’s Town to Gordon Bay, this city offers a variety that suits all tastes. Whale and dolphin watching is a popular activity in False Bay.

Located on the Cape of Good Hope, the city was founded in 1652 by a Dutch trading company as a way-station for ships travelling to the East Indies. With the settling process, all sorts of foreign plants were introduced, including the grapes in the famous Cape Winelands District, just outside Cape Town.

Cape Town’s history does have some darker periods, and some of its memorable places from this time deserve to be visited: Robben Island jail, the City Hall from which Nelson Mandela gave his first public speech, and the statues of the 4 South African Nobel Peace Prize winners on the V&A Waterfront.

Cape Town has it all, the restaurants, tourist spots, things to do and places to visit! You can easily do a full week and feel like your stay was too short! V&A is a must, if just for the food scene, Table Mountain of course!

Staying in Capetown was terrific!

Staying in Capetown was terrific! Almost Every angle of the City is a picture moment. South Africa, Capetown and the other towns around it are hidden gems. That most North Americans don’t know about. We would definitely come back here and would bring our kids along with us.

Love the scenery with the mountains as a backdrop, the ocean, and the mix of modern architecture blended in with the old colorful houses on the hills. Have explored and enjoyed several local coffee shops and restaurants. Downtown area and V&A Waterfront easy to get around by foot, UBER an affordable option to get to the nearby suburb and wineries in Constantia, or why not rent a bicycle and head out on a trek to one of the beaches. Can't wait to be back again next year.

Beautiful but trying to do Touristy things is difficult on a weekend as it is so busy. Tourists get charged a ridiculous amount of money compared to locals. A must is a walking food tour through Bokoop. Was a great experience

Stunning natural beauty (see the pictures for yourself). Safer than Johannesburg. Friendly people. Easy to drive around with a hired car. Plenty of food choices to choose from. Suggested places to see: Kirstenbosch Bottanical Gardens Sea point promenade V&A waterfront (more of a night vibe) Table Mountain Chapmans peak Hout Bay Cape Point Highly recommend Wembley Roadhouse in Athlone for delicious food that's open until late.

What a lovely stay it has been! We selected Home Suite Sea Points during our trip earlier in October as we spent the birthday of my girlfriend in Cape Town. The hotel team helped to prepare a small birthday surprise - that was very sweet :) We stayed in a standard room with sea view - it was spacious and comfortable. Also the sea view is a real sea (ocean) view as you expect it from the hotel photos, which is great. Nicely decorated rooms, attentive staff, finger-licking breakfast!

The hotel is very well-situated in Sea Point. The room was spacious and clean, the indoor courtyard was beautiful, both Shoreditch and Harvey's were very good (popular venues that locals also visit), and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel also has a generator that shields you from load shedding. Above all, it's a great place to base yourself when visiting Cape Town and nearby areas.

Our stay at the Taj was nothing short of excellent. From the warm hospitality to the little spoils that made us feel at home, every detail was perfect. Breakfast was absolutely amazing, and you truly deserve the title of one of the best hotels in Cape Town. Thank you for helping us create such lasting memories — we look forward to our next visit!

The hotel was in a good location. It was near many attractions. Also, it was very secure with controlled access to the rooms. The bed was also very comfortable and it was a high rise building with a good view of Cape Town. I was on the 16th floor and had views up to V&A Waterfront and the ocean.

There are indeed a few amazing hotels in the Cape Town area. The Table Bay Hotel is indeed in the top league. Interior, location, view, breakfast, staff, etc. It is further good to have other excellent dinner choices around the corner.
