Very beautiful interior design. there’s a yard behind the restaurant, allows guests to enjoy the tasty breakfast with pleasant view. Location is quite good, about 15min walk to the center, and there’s a small store 100m away. Staff are very friendly and helpful.

Gulnaraxanum is a cosy hotel located in the Jewish quarter in the heart of the city, with lots of restaurants and tourist attractions around. Our room was exceptionally clean and quiet, with a great bathroom. The courtyard is amazing, too! Beds are quite hard though, but it’s the only minus-ish thing :) Samir is an extremely nice and helpful young man :) (Thank you again!) Breakfast was very tasty with large variety of local food. Highly recommend this place! Will definitely be back when in Bukhara.

We liked everything. The location was perfect. All the tourist attraction sites are at walking distance. Plenty of restaurants and supermarkets nearby. The host was a very kind and a helpful lady. We checked out early in the morning at 2.30 am to catch the bullet train. She was awake to make sure a smooth check out though she was an expecting mom. She even arranged the transfer to the station. Good breakfast The Interior of the room gives u a local experience and it's insta Worthy. The bed was super comfy and the room was spotless. Highly recommended and I would come back if I'm making another trip here.

This unique hotel is located in the centre of the old city with a walkable distance to all main sightseeing of Bukhara. It was one of the best hotels in my experience. The hotel is new, it has a perfect old-style national design made with good materials. Very delicious and various breakfasts, with a good choice of local and European food, and fresh vegetables. The windows of the rooms look into the cozy open air inner yard. The room is spacy enough with a good bathroom (both shower and tub).

We arrived in Bukhara after Khiva and were worried that it wouldn't be as good. But it's amazing!!! We were also lucky to visit during the “Bukhara Biennial” (https://www.bukharabiennial.uz/). A must-see.

Our 2025 Bradt guidebook claimed Bukhara to be the cultural...

Our 2025 Bradt guidebook claimed Bukhara to be the cultural jewel of Uzbekistan and they were right. We were fortunate in that we visited during their first “Bukhara Biennial, a new contemporary initiative taking place from September 5th to November 20th, 2025 across newly restored historic landmarks in the city of Bukhara, a UNESCO Creative City of Craft & Folk Art”, resulting in many of the sights being adorned with modern art and installations including by our own Anthony Gormley! I think this had an influence on the visitors as the city had an almost bohemian feel to it. A very friendly and happy place. We were also fortunate to have a Saturday night dinner at Joy Chaikhana Lounge which was simply fabulous. We enjoyed Bukhara a lot more than Tashkent, Samarkand and Khiva, although it’s hard to make a fair comparison.

I visited the city for the Centural Asia Art Biennale.

I visited the city for the Centural Asia Art Biennale. The city is rich with ancient histories and middle aged buildings. They have full tourism services everywhere such as beautiful restuarants. But the old ruines of Madrasas, Mosques. and the old Bazaars are very beautiful. The Ark you shouldnt forget to pay 60,000 -80,000 sum for the entrance. But it is worthy to visit one time in life time.

The city is a gem!

The city is a gem! All the gorgeous buildings are close enough together to save walking too much in the hot sun. Apart from the citadel, all the buildings are free, without the outrageous "tourist discount" (i.e. surcharge) of Thailand and especially India. I gave Bukhara four days, and that felt just about right. The only downside is the location of the Kagan/Bukhara railway station (15 km), but a Yandex Go taxi (the local equivalent of Grab or Uber) only costs 25,000-30,000 som (a tad over 2 dollars) provided you have a local SIM in your phone. A bargain!

Bukhara was a great place to visit.

Bukhara was a great place to visit. We had a personal guided walking tour, which was well worth the money we paid. There is so much to see in the town. I would highly recommend visiting here. It was very hot in the afternoons, otherwise we would have done more. Excellent restaurants in the town.

Bukhara is one of my all-time favorite places to visit.

Bukhara is one of my all-time favorite places to visit. Over the past 20 years, it has been spruced up a lot, almost to the point of loosing that air of ancient place - but it is more comfortable to walk due to brand new pavements everywhere and wide roads. During my visit, the city was prepping for the independence day celebration, and some places were closed or scaffolded for renovation, which i found very annoying. Overall, prices are very affordable; but i wish staff at historical sites were a bit more professional. Overall, the experience was that everyone was trying to make money above all.

First of all I have to mention Sardar, the day time receptionist. He is very friendly and helpful, and his level of English is superb, something which I did not encounter in other hotels in Uzbekistan. The room was big and peaceful, the Aircon worked perfectly, which is important in this hot climate. Everything was very clean, and the breakfast abundant and tasty. The guesthouse is in a quiet street only minutes away from the central pond. I spent a full week at Muxta-Sham and I was very happy.

Definitely the best guesthouse we stayed at in Uzbekistan. The host was super welcoming and made us breakfast early in the morning to accommodate our travel plan. The food was delicious and they even had a lovely sweater for teapot! The facilities were great as well, especially AC and wifi. We had a joyous stay, and it’s a pity we only had one night at Bukhara. If we ever get to visit here again, we will definitely come back to Nurobod Guesthouse!

We loved the spacious and clean room, very comfortable bedrooms and good air con. The breakfast was the best buffet we’ve come across in Uzbekistans and had good vegetarian options. We also liked the dinner restaurant in the hotel. The decor was beautiful and all the staff were super helpful and friendly. They even packed us a lunch for the train journey.

A quite nice hotel with a great room. Room 203 was clean, fragrant, and comfortable. Considering it's Uzbekistan, the mattress wasn't as hard as everywhere else. Varied breakfasts, very friendly staff, affordable, and not far from the main attractions of Bukhara.
