Many small stores to shop!

Many small stores to shop! Really, really Loved the Woodstock Farmers Mkt!! Short hike to the Quechee Gorge was well worth it! And browsed a local shop at Quechee Gorge (for an hour), that is known for making aromatic candles, and is a distributor of natural health remedies. Get away from Big Pharma!

We stopped at Simon Pearce for lunch before heading to Woodstock - highly recommended. We stayed at the beautiful Woodstock Inn and ate one night at Richardson's Tavern which is wonderful. We had a muffin, a turnover, coffee and tea one morning at the Village Butcher Shop which we also highly recommend. They had just taken a pepperoni calzone out of the oven and it looked amazing. Definitely a destination next time too! Since a few things were closed for the season, we did a lot of walking and relaxing. We'll be back during the season to use the Inn's pool, play golf and visit Billings Farm.

Woodstock is fantastic town, very pretty (especially in the fall) with some lovely shops and great cafe/restaurants. Recommendations: The Shire is a great place to stay for exploring Woodstock. Dr Coburn’s Tonic was very good for local beer and food. The sandwiches from the Village Butcher Shop are fantastic. Just outside Woodstock is Abracadabra Coffee Shop, great coffee and Donuts, in a lovely old building.

Woodstock is a cute little town, and I fell in love instantly. They are very dog friendly which to me was a huge plus. Mont Vert Cafe was the place to be, and was super crowded but very (as they say on their open/closed sign) awesome!! I went in for a bottle of water, and came out with that and a chocolate chip brownie, which was to die for! Will definitely visit again. Sadly, I didn't have a lot of time to explore, because I had to get on the road to get home, but I did make it a point to visit The Yankee Bookshop, which is a must see. It hade a "book" theme, meaning they sold novelties such as bookmarks that looked like an old library "due date" card. Younger gens may not get this, but us older folks will love it. :) In summary, it was a lot of fun to walk through.

Woodstock Inn has a lovely ambiance, great staff and the rooms are beautiful. You must make reservations for the hotel restaurants before you get there, even thought you cannot dine there if you are not staying at the Inn. I would ask if there is a wedding going on because the music is loud and impossible to get away from. It only went on until 10:00pm on Saturday but downtown closes at 6:00pm and there was no way to get away from the very loud music.

Great location. Minutes walk to the centre of Woodstock. Nice setting on the side of the river with chairs and lighting to enjoy the view. Bed was comfy. We had a room to the left of the main property which looked like a little house. Big bath in the bedroom was nice with separate shower and toilet.
