It's a quiet little town. My brother initially lived in Wallowa when they first moved to that side of the mountains. If you prefer a quiet place to stay rather than the hustle and bustle of Joseph then I'd suggest staying in Wallowa and then driving to Joseph and Wallowa Lake during the day for your activities. Joseph is less than 20 miles away. The view of the surrounding mountains both when driving through the canyon to get to Wallowa and once you're in Wallowa are amazing. The majestic mountains are awe-inspiring.

No restaurants were open after 6 PM on a Sunday evening during height of tourism season. We understand though as it was haying season. We were able to buy food at the local grocery store and microwaved our dinners.

Amazing location in Wallowa. We traveled to hike in the mountains but rest in comfort at the motel. Towels and bedding were more typical of “home” and comfortable. I could see that the colors for the interior were updated and the air conditioner worked well!! Kitchenette was great to have cold waters, etc.
The management and staff were generous and kind beyond typical hotel hospitality.

Just fine for a night or two, economical. Not much going on in the town of Wallowa for eating choices, so you have to go another 7 miles to Enterprise for a little better selection, or 25 miles to Joseph for more choices.
