FAQs about hotels in Philadelphia

A Birthplace of Independence And a Public Art Mecca

The birthplace of American independence, Philadelphia was founded in 1682 by William Penn. The name of the city translates to City of Brotherly Love and the city itself is a vibrant mix of history, art and culture.

Philly, as it is commonly called, is famous for its public art with more sculptures and murals than any other city in USA. Seeing the best graffiti and statutes won’t break the bank balance as you can join many free tours and admire them absolutely free of charge!

It’s also home to many national historical sites with the Independence National History Park as a starting point and centre for all the major landmarks, including the Independence Hall, where the Declaration of Independence was signed and the Liberty Bell is located, the symbol of the American Revolution.

Visit the world’s largest urban landscaped park, the Fairmount Park with over 37 km² of green area. There are plenty of paths and hiking trails and after that, enjoy some local specialities: a cheesesteak sandwich, a soft pretzel or some Tastykake snacks.

Arriving at Philadelphia International Airport, you’re only a 20-minute ride from the city centre. Booking.com offers a variety of hotels in downtown Philly, near the airport or for the sports enthusiasts, near the Wells Fargo Center.

Philadelphia is a wonderful city to explore, rich with cultural and historic landmarks all within easy walking distance. Staying near Rittenhouse Square offers quick access to excellent restaurants, shopping, and world-class museums like the Barnes Collection and the Philadelphia Museum of Art. The historic Capitol Building and the charming neighborhoods around Pine Street add even more character to the city. Overall, Philadelphia is inviting, walkable, and full of unforgettable cultural experiences.

It is not the best city to visit.

It is not the best city to visit. Horrible architecture, lots of run down factory buildings, traintracks in thr middle of the city, there isn’t a noce long walking path by the riverside. There is some nice historical buildings in a few streets but not cohesive the view of the historical buildungs. The subways are very dirty and smelly. Lots of homeless on the streets, as well.

Fantastic history. Interesting people.

Fantastic history. Interesting people. Beautiful architecture. We stayed two nights, wish we had doubled that. Driving in Old Town wasn’t bad, but a map app is a must because of the narrow one-way streets. Used a parking garage across the street that was very convenient. So many options for food and drink.

So much history. So many cool things to do.

So much history. So many cool things to do. We went to the rocky steps and walked through the city, stopped and had a famous angelo's philly cheesesteak, randomly went to a 76ers game because two tickets cost less than 100 bucks so why not, went to an eagles game. The people are really friendly really nice, the city is beautiful, there is so much to do.

Lots of history to learn about.

Lots of history to learn about. Great museums but check to see when they’re open. We were able to visit American Revolution Museum which was excellent. But others had limited access Great restaurants. We loved staying in the Old City. Also recommend visiting the Reading Terminal where there are 80 vendors selling delicious food at reasonable prices.

Lots of history to see and explore.

Lots of history to see and explore. The old part of the city is of more interest (too us). There is also a good art museum and a visit to the old penitentiary is also worthwhile. Finding good food options at reasonable prices was a bit challenging but ok if you just want fast food. Reading Terminal Market has a few good options to choose from but can get very busy. The city feels generally safe to walk around and is very culturally diverse and tolerant. But like in all big cities, you have to be careful where you go and be on your guard. The waterfront is also worth a visit if the weather is nice.

Our stay at the Rittenhouse Hotel in Philadelphia was one of the best hotel experiences we’ve ever had. From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel truly special, with every detail thoughtfully taken care of. The warm welcome, complete with bagels and cookies for our two little princesses, brought huge smiles to their faces. The location is excellent, the service outstanding, and the hospitality unforgettable. Thank you for an incredible stay!

This was the second Stay at Luna hotel I stayed at and they are always brilliant! The room was large, with a very comfortable bed, ample storage room and an actual kitchen (including stove). The hotel is just two blocks away from the main Broad St. Septa line, which will get you to Center City in no time. The neighbourhood felt safe and calm. Chinatown, Reading Terminal Market and Eastern State Penitentiary are just a short walk away.
