FAQs about hotels in New Orleans

Getting its Rhythm Back

The home of jazz, intriguing New Orleans evokes images of Louis Armstrong, wrought-iron balconies and mouth-watering Cajun cuisine. Louisiana’s largest city, the Big Easy is the beating heart of the Deep South.

Dance down Bourbon Street, where jazz saxophones ring out of traditional bars mixed with more colorful nightlife and entertainment venues. There are several New Orleans hotels near Bourbon Street, spread around the French Quarter with its distinctive Creole architecture.

To the south is Jackson Square, dominated by St. Louis Cathedral. Horses and carts wait patiently by the square, and locals set up their stools and start playing catchy tunes. Just behind is the legendary Mississippi River whose waters are still plied by paddle steamers.

From the river you get great views of the CBD (downtown) skyscrapers and the Louisiana Superdome. Booking.com has several hotels nearby, including some on Canal Street, where streetcars and the famous New Orleans Mardi Gras carnival pass down.

In the northern suburbs is New Orleans City Park, one of the oldest US parks and larger than NYC’s Central Park. Waterways lining it flow into large Lake Pontchartrain bordered by a bayou.

New Orleans is a great place for adults.

New Orleans is a great place for adults. There are so many good places to eat for breakfast - Mother's restaurant, Willa Jean's. Getting around is easy, you can walk most places in the French Quarter. The streetcar is easy to use. I'd recommend taking it up to see the Garden District and Audubon park. The aquarium and insect house were very fun.

There is so much more to New Orleans than just Mardi Gras.

There is so much more to New Orleans than just Mardi Gras. As a matter of fact, we avoid Mardi Gras and for the most part Bourbon Street. The food, the culture, the history, the diversity, the architecture, the feel of New Orleans calls us back as soon as we depart. Not to mention the MUSIC!! What an epic destination.

The culture was fantastic, while most of the cabbies are all thieves and do not turn in the meter while more than doubling the actual fees for most rides. I would check with multiple sources to confirm before the ride to confirm the rip off by the cab driver. I'll never use a cab if any type in new Orleans again.

New Orleans is a great vacation destination.

New Orleans is a great vacation destination. There are many things to do for all members of the family. Including many outside of the French Quarter. One of the most popular is the WWII museum. Which you should plan at least an afternoon or more to see. Another fun outing for children and adults alike is a ride on a trolley. You can ride all the way to Audubon Zoo for another afternoons enjoyment. If you choose to stay closer to the French Quarter you might consider a day cruise with children on the Steamboat Natchez or evening cruise for Adults. Be certain to leave time to stroll the French Quarter shops on Royal St or the St Louis Cathedral. You might stop in the Jackson Square park and have your portrait painted or caricature made. If your legs need a rest you can stop by the Cafe' Du' Mon for some "Ben Yay" donuts and Coffee Olay. There's lots more things to do depending upon your interests, cemetery tour, ghost tour, city tour, carriage rides, swamp tour, and restaurants over 800 of them. One of our favorites is G W Fins. There are lots of great choices for places to eat. There is more to New Orleans than Bourbon St and Clubs. Come see for yourself.

Everything! The hotel was perfectly located on the heart of the French Quarter within walking distance to everything but just a little out the way of the noisiest streets. It’s a big old traditional New Orleans property and the staff are all super friendly and welcoming and helpful. The beds were really comfortable (something we don’t always find in hotels - often mattresses are uncomfortable) and the rooms had air con and a fab so we were cool in the Louisiana heat.

Stayed here for the New Orleans Jazz Fest. The room was very spacious and spotlessly clean, we loved the sleek, modern decor and furnishings. The location was just off Canal Street which meant the hotel was adjacent to everything in the French Quarter and was close to the transportation links to the Jazz Fest. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. I would definitely visit New Orleans and stay at the Rubenstein again.

Very close to the museums and a 20min walk to the French Quarter. Nice furniture, washing facilities, well equipped kitchen. Safe area, perfectly situated to visit New Orleans. I wish, we could have stayed longer! We highly recommend the little restaurant Mais on the corner of the same block —- good food, delicious cocktails and very nice staff.

The staff were friendly and helpful. Room was large, comfortable and well equipped with coffee machine, fridge, hairdryer, iron and ironing board. Location was excellent on canal street with a tram stop directly outside and about a 10 min walk to the French quarter. Would recommend and if returning to New Orleans I would book the hotel again.
