I stayed in North Myrtle beach for the first time; in the past we had always stayed in South myrtle. North myrtle is the best by far. Avista Resort is the perfect family hotel. People in N. This hotel was disgusting. There was a roach on my headboard and when I killed it and brought it to the front desk, they said, "a bug is a bug" and were extremely unprofessional regarding the issue, even suggesting that it was bout online and put in the room! The halls and pool were filthy. Once I changed rooms, with no assistance, the new room reeked of cigarette smoke. The pool was filthy, so much hair floating around. People were allowed to smoke everywhere on the property. I was in awe of the state of the hotel and how little the front desk manager cared. The umbrellas on the beach (if you can afford them) is a pleasure. They are up at daylight and you don't have to carryn all that Beach stuff except a cooler. This is MY beach go to. craft beer enthusiasts Atlas Tap House is a must do. Dive bar feel that hides a huge array of local brews. Excellent bourbon selection. Attractions were close to hotel. Souvenirs were plentiful and reasonable. Restaurants decently priced. Pool was nice size and water temperature was comfortable. We went to Hooters, Friendly’s and buffet restaurant, Red Robin, all clean and friendly staff. Enjoyed Ripley Aquarium, medieval Times and pirate show. Multiple places to play miniature golf.
