This place was perfect for me. The views were excellent! It was extremely clean (I'm very picky with clean sheets/showers). The breakfast was sufficient and offered variety. I like the way the rooms are set up. There was so much to do in the vicinity also. I'll definitely be back with the family!

My partner and I stayed for 3 wonderful nights whilst attending our sons graduation at the nearby Young Harris College. Having travelled from England we arrived late at night to be greeted by Garrett who was friendly and informative, this I now understand to be the wonderful Southern hospitality everyone mentions which we also experienced from all the reception & Oaks staff, especially the 2 lovely ladies who served us breakfast. (Sorry we didn't get to see you on our last day, we slept in late then had to rush off) Our room was spacious & comfortable, I didn't use the AC as I find it plays havoc with my breathing so opted for the large ceiling fan which was ample for our needs. The bed was so huge you need a sat nav to move around it :) We met a lovely couple in the Oaks bar who mentioned to us that the building will be going through a makeover which is possibly well needed however I had no complaints to make about the decor. We spent quite a lot of time in the gardens and on the pier with beautiful views of the mountains & lake. Overall we had an excellent stay which was possibly one of the finest of my 57 years on this Earth.

    We came for the car show put on by the Murphy Art Center,...

    We came for the car show put on by the Murphy Art Center, which was great! We would come again for it. Olive's Porch has many handmade items and has classes during the year. There are plenty of places to eat and shops to explore in town that we enjoyed. The Mason Bar is a nice place to have dinner and relax listening to a band as well as have an ice cream at Mimo's. Shoe Bootie's has very good food. They are in the middle putting in a Round About in center of town, but we got around it fine. Any one interested in architecture will find the older buildings very interesting! The town is very walkable . The Sunset Motel is a nice old fashioned motel with great staff! Not far from town is the Cherokee Casino with lodging and the Stonebrook Lodge as well that has a nice breakfast. In Fall, the John C. Campbell Folk School puts on a wonderful Fall Festival in October where there many handmade items, demos and music. A great day out!

    Murphy is a small quaint town with an active downtown and...

    Murphy is a small quaint town with an active downtown and sufficient market around it, located in the foothills of the mountains. Traffic is easy for the most part, with school zones at peak time being the notable exception. The river walk is very nice, but no public restrooms. There is a large number of small private businesses and restaurants, plus most big fast food chains are having at least one restaurant in the area.

    This was the 2nd time we stayed in Murphy, NC.

    This was the 2nd time we stayed in Murphy, NC. The motel was 1/2 mile from the casino. During the day we visited several antique shops and quilt shops in the area. We ate at the casino each evening and stayed to play the slots.

    Close to downtown and historical Murphy.

    Close to downtown and historical Murphy. Quaint little shops and several really good restaurants. Short drive to Bryson city and about an hour to Cherokee for more exciting things to do. whitewater rafting, hiking, fishing, kayaking and just enjoying the beauty of the Nantahala National Forest.

    This cabin was absolutely beautiful, river was clear but really cold lol felt great after a hike though! Very private location. Beds were comfortable, everything worked as it should. Close enough to what you needed or wanted but secluded enough to enjoy the beautiful sound of nature in the evening along with the soothing sound of the river. I would highly recommend staying here to anyone! We had 8 people in our group and we all had our own bed with a couple beds still available. Great screen in porch with comfortable furniture to sit on and enjoy yourself with lots of laughter and great memories!

    Murphy is a great little town.

    Murphy is a great little town. We go there for a little get away as a couple. The Casino is a bonus. We love just being able to enjoy the Moutain view without all of the overcrowding as in most towns with these kinds of attractions.

    Sunset is a quirky roadside motel in the old style. Brightly painted on the outside in a hippy style. Positioned in a more historic looking part of Murphy it is very quiet but has plenty of independent places to eat nearby. Our final hotel/motel on our 30 day roadtrip of 3000 miles and it capped off our holiday memorably. Only 2nd place I took photos of !!
