This property was unsafe and misleading. Inside temperature reached nearly 90°F, making it impossible to stay, especially with children who suffered headaches immediately. The listing did not disclose the lack of AC, and the host only suggested “opening windows” instead of addressing the problem. We had to leave the same day, our trip was ruined, and the owner refused a refund despite video evidence. Julian is where all Southern Californians go for amazing apple Pie. And not to far down the road is San Isabel is Dudly's bread. Lots of gift shops in Julian, but I think it only has one antique shop left, and it has odd hours. Great bits of history alsoGuest review byAnonymous - 10.0
We loved staying at the Gold Rush Hotel.
We loved staying at the Gold Rush Hotel. We actually got free breakfast every morning at this hotel. The other restaurants are really good too. Weather was cold, but we made the best of it. Julian is Julian, always has been a tourist trap and forever will be , as far as food in town it was high-priced and mediocre at best for what you get, And the Pies, well ok but not so good that a 8-inch pie should cost 20 bucks, and slices almost 8 bucks for a small wedge of a pie , any of the Julian Pie shops have the same Pies, and same prices , they are making 64 bucks out of one 8 inch pie so you know about how big the slices are , if you want good food that is not pricey , go to San Diego to Old Town , food is great there , food is good and reasonably pricedGuest review byJungleBearUnited States - 10.0

Julian is a easy drive from San Diego.
Julian is a easy drive from San Diego. It is a nice, clean little mountain town. It has many shops with unique goods that you don't see many places. The one serious drawback is that there is only one go to sit-down restaurant. It is Italian. One major drawback is they do not accept reservations. However they do have a system using a Qcode in which you can be notified when your table will be ready in a specified time frame. Our wait was only about 1/2 hr notice of when our table for 6 was ready. Just don't sit by the front door. The cold wind is not pleasant each time the door opened.
