The government shut down made the entrance to the part free and accessible, and the local government supported the park so most of the services were available. The National Park system as a whole is a treasure and RMNP is a gorgeous gem. There are plenty of things to do and see in this area. Federal funding for all National Parks needs to be restored.

We come to Estes as often as possible.

We come to Estes as often as possible. We came up for the Elk Festival. We got good parking. We spent time in Rocky Mountain National Park. We ate at Subway. Bought food at Safeway for the morning and snacks at the hotel. We ate at a sandwich shop next to Safeway. It was so nice. I don't remember the name. We visited the Taffy Shop. But our goal was to be with and take pictures of wildlife. We were not disappointed. Enjoyed the Elk fest bugling contest. Ate wicked good food at the festival from venders. Stocked up on kettle corn and caramel popcorn. My dog was welcome everywhere we went. She is 10 pounds and well behaved and cute - so life was easy this weekend.

Estes Park is delightful!

Estes Park is delightful! Such a pretty town with lots of good restaurants and cute shops. We loved our stay here. If you're visiting RMNP, highly recommend walking around the town center. Parking was easy during our fall foliage visit. Be sure to enjoy the river walk. Bonus- elk were everywhere!

This is our second trip to Estes Park in October; it is a beautiful place to visit. The town has lots of restaurants and stores. We were there during the fall festival and it was crowded this year, but we love seeing the Elk walking down the streets and it's so close to RMNP! Our favorite place to eat was the Estes Park Brewery, we got a flight of beer and two sandwiches, and everything was great! There is free parking near the golf course, everything is within walking distance.

It was a beautiful little town. The River Walk is a must-do. It was very easy to get around and the availability of shuttles and parking areas was great. All the shop owners were so friendly and inviting. It is definitely a pet friendly town as well.

Loved walking around the lake in the morning.

Loved walking around the lake in the morning. You can also rent bikes. We enjoyed dinner at the resort and one night at The Stanley. Easy access to the center of town and to Rocky Mountain National Park. Both are close enough for half day trips. Bear Lake is not to be missed, but must have reservations!

Great location, basically next to Rocky Mountain NP. Both check in and check out were easy. The rooms were newly refurbished, which was nice. Cleaning is available upon request. For us, this was perfect to spend couple nights while exploring the NP and Estes Park by day.
