Main attraction is Canyon de Chelly which is a MUST SEE in Arizona.
Tours of the Canyon are offered by several operators using 4X4 specially equipped vehicles. Highly recommend these tours. We booked the 4 hour tour through the Thunderbird Lodge and were very satisfied.

I've been to Chinle multiple times and the only complaint I have is the road. There are potholes in some places. I got tire pressure issues when we were on our way to Ganado.
Chinle is scenic with the Canyon de Chelly and I have toured the canyon in June of 2022.

Chinle is a small town on the Navajo Reservation.
Chinle is a small town on the Navajo Reservation. Canyon de Chelly National Monument is the top attraction there and well worth the visit. We had an unpleasant experience at the Denny's Restaurant. The A/C was broken so it was a little warm inside. We ordered two sandwiches, which were good, but took far too long to arrive based on small number of customers there. The service was less than desirable. I highly recommend staying at the Thunderbird Lodge. They do have an on-site restaurant, but it was closed that evening because they were installing some new equipment

Loved the tour in Canyon de Chelly, the rim overlooks, and the horseback ride into the canyon. Thunderbird Lodge was very comfortable and close to the canyon which was very convenient. It was very sad to hear what horrible things happened in the canyon to the Navajo people. However, it was the most enjoyable vacation I have had in my life. Our Navajo guide, Fernando, was the BEST!!

The highlight of Chinle is the sightseeing.
The highlight of Chinle is the sightseeing. There are tours available. We had to go with our tour guide and get a permit for our tour. Our guide explained that we could not take pictures of people, their homes, property or animals without permission. It is disrespectful if you do.

It was an amazing stay! Quiet and relaxing!
It was an amazing stay! Quiet and relaxing! Absolutely beautiful area! The staff was wonderful and accommodating to my specific needs. They weren't a requirement, they were complimentary to me from the hotel. I asked for a late check out and they graciously gave it to me so thank you!! It was a much needed short vacation on my part!! I will be back!!

If you explore Canyon de Chelly, this lodge is where to stay for a night or two.
The location is great.
For food we went to the restaurant Junction in Chinle - a low-key town in Navajo reservation lands, couple of miles from lodge, since the lodge itself is rather isolated from everything.
