Beautiful and historic town on the Black River, with a hilly and lovely main street. Small shops, antique stores, restaurants and coffee shops, and a history museum welcome visitors. The surrounding countryside is absolutely beautiful. Taking a drive on nearby country roads is its own rewarding pastime; the hills covered with mixed pine and deciduous woodlands are dotted with farms and crop fields. Some place names are Norwegian, others are Scottish -- including the charming town of Ettrick; there are only two Ettricks in the world, one here and one in Scotland itself. The whole area, including the beautiful and historic nearby city of LaCrosse is worth a visit! Highly recommended.

One block off Hwy.
One block off Hwy. Fast food, fuel and Walmart within two blocks. Bed comfortable. Toilet and shower just fine, clean and fully functional. TV and microwave were great the previous stay, both had issues this time.

this was a disaster.
this was a disaster. It looks good on the outside but they have a major mold and mildew problem inside. When I stepped inside the lobby I smelled it, so I asked to see the room before checking in. The room smelled even worse and it was obviously not safe to stay in. The staff were initially helpful. Then change their tune completely. I will be talking to corporate in the near future,

This hotel is environmentally friendly. Rooms are kept cool until arrival, but warm quickly. Rooms are small, so not wasted space to be heated. Smaller bottles of shampoo and conditioner, but enough for two, for four showers. One bar of soap instead of three. I also liked the non-carpeted floor (cleaner) and the duvet sheet cover. Much better than a sheet and comforter at other hotels (where I doubt comforter gets washed very often.). The lobby, with its fireplace was very cozy and had a very friendly feel.

The location was nice and quiet, At some Hotels people are loud and noisy all through the night, not here it was pretty quiet,I can't forget to mention the lovely friendly Jill working at the front desk.

This is a one-star property, max. Facility hasn’t been updated in 30 years. probably the worst hotel I’ve stayed at in several years. The rate should be $50 tops. tear this down, build a new hotel
