A superb stay at this lovely LGBT-friendly motel in gorgeous Vermont during late September. A lot of love has gone into this motel and it shows - from the warm cinnamon welcome in the lobby to the exceptionally clean and tidy room. My mum and I stayed in the yellow sunflower room; a double with 2 big comfy beds and an ensuite bathroom (with toilet, sink and shower) and views overlooking the pretty front and back gardens - had the weather been better, we'd have been out there in the chairs soaking up the view! Our room had the self-catering essentials (fridge & microwave) along with a few complimentary snacks. Shelly was lovely to chat with and very helpful in recommending local eateries, supermarkets, and sightseeing - we initially came for the Robert Frost house but she suggested Hildene when we checked out (which we did visit and were thoroughly impressed by!) My mum and I slept brilliantly and despite being on historic route 7a, there was zero road noise. We stayed in several big name hotels during our holiday, and can honestly say that Governor's Rock Motel was one of the best stays of all! Nothing was too much trouble; comfort, cleanliness and friendliness was a major plus. An exceptional motel, would definitely return!! Thank you Shelly & Lisa for a fantastic stay 😊

    I loved seeing animals freely walking around.. the rooster...

    I loved seeing animals freely walking around.. the rooster was huge and majestic. So handsome.. never saw one like this… and his girlfriend hen was adorable too. The Inn’s dog Marley is also a big plus for me.. and I got to pet him twice. I loved the cozy fireplaces in the room and also the breakfast nook, the decor was stunning and seeing the beautiful stunning colors of autumn only added to its charm. Under the Innkeepers recommendation, we had dinner at the Publik House, and we were floored with the high quality and excellence of the food. We also made time to go to Weston to see the Vermont Country Store… always a pleasure. Its like stepping back in time. Was an extremely beautiful weekend.

    The property needs lots of attention. There was no staff on site. The tavern and restaurant was closed. The original room given to me was literally uninhabitable. It smelled like a dead animal. After reaching someone on the phone my room was changed and it was a bit better, however, there were dead bugs in the windows and the paint was chipping. The bedding was comfortable but do yourself a favor and drive up the road ten minutes for a much better hotel/inn

    Breakfast was outstanding, Breakfast Banana Split was awesome. Room was comfortable. Inn was very near Fly Fishing events. Close to Bennington and Manchester - which is a lovely Vermont town. Highly recommended.
