Alton has a good restaurant right across the street from the motel and in the motel. Fast Eddies if you like a casual atmosphere for food

Finding out the history of Alton was a real eye-opener. To know that Alton was one of the safe havens for the underground railroad during the times of Slavery that negros found safety and help from the locals, was heart warming. That one of the tallest men, Robert Wadlow was a native. Alton Quay on the Great Mississippi a true wonder to observe Premier Best Western Hotel had a great restaurant/bar Great Rivers we ate there and thoroughly enjoyed their food

I love to drive down tbe river road , and driving around the towns by the river, such nice older homes and alton has so many historic buildings. A great place to be , don't forget to stop in at fast Eddie's, live music.
